Toa Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Tsuyoshi Hayakawa; hereinafter "the Company") has been awarded the "Project for the Improvement of Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport" (hereinafter "the Project") by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. The contract value is approximately 6.4 billion yen, and the construction period is scheduled for 28 months.

The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste is set to officially join ASEAN in 2025 and is promoting economic development as a member of the Southeast Asian region. Against the backdrop of population growth, particularly among the youth, and the expansion of human and economic exchanges both within and outside the region, the development of core infrastructure, including transportation and logistics, has become a critical national priority for the country's sustainable growth.

The Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport, the subject of this project, is a core infrastructure facility serving as the country's gateway for both international and domestic flights. However, existing facilities face challenges in terms of processing capacity and safety, necessitating compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and functional enhancements to accommodate future increases in aviation demand.

This project is being implemented under the Japanese government's Official Development Assistance (ODA) grant aid. It aims to contribute to the country's economic growth, tourism promotion, and improvement of the quality of life for its citizens through the development of aviation infrastructure, centered on the construction of airport terminal facilities.

The Company has previously participated in numerous infrastructure development projects in the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, including ports, water supply, and irrigation, contributing to the country's development. In this project as well, we will leverage our technical capabilities and construction management expertise in the fields of architecture and infrastructure, cultivated both domestically and internationally, to ensure the steady completion of the construction.

As the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste is expected to see further development, the Company will continue to contribute to the country's sustainable growth and the development of the local community through the promotion of infrastructure development projects.
