Our company supports April Dream, which makes April 1st a day to broadcast dreams. This press release is the dream of To-On Kikaku Co., Ltd. and the Burgmüller Contest Executive Committee.
To-On Kikaku Co., Ltd. and the Burgmüller Executive Committee (CEO/Chairman Naruyasu Fukuda) have been holding the Burgmüller Contest since 2015, marking its 12th edition in the autumn of 2026.
Boasting 19,000 participants nationwide, our contest established the "2-person Burgmüller division" from the 2025 fiscal year. Over 100 pairs enjoyed performing in it.
From 2026, we will completely refresh the lineup of required pieces. Even the melodies you admire but cannot yet reach alone can be immersed in with their beautiful resonance if you have someone's support. By providing an opportunity to get familiar with Burgmüller's melodies by playing together, and by expanding participation in this division to about three times as many (300 pairs), we aim to deliver warm dialogues through the piano and the joy of music to all of Japan.
- What is the Burgmüller Contest
Burgmüller's études are often used when you start learning the piano and finish beginner materials. This contest centers on these Burgmüller études as required pieces.
It is a contest that can serve as a goal for all beginners familiarizing themselves with the piano, from small children challenging the stage for the first time, to middle and high school students busy with studies, club activities, and work, or adults who have resumed playing the piano after a long time.
- 2-person Burgmüller Division ~ Aiming for 600 participants! 300 kinds of drama unfolding on stage
This division, held for the first time last year, allows children who still find it difficult to play Burgmüller alone to stand on stage through a duet with teachers, parents, or siblings, enabling them to enjoy Burgmüller's works while experiencing the "joy of sharing music." Furthermore, for children who have become able to play Burgmüller's easier works, it is a stage where they can experience the latter works of the 25 études, such as "La Chevaleresque," through a duet as a preparatory step before advancing to more developmental works.
Supporting both the "first step" and the "next challenge," this division will refresh its required pieces in 2026.
Our dream is to increase the number of participants in the "2-person Burgmüller division" to 600 people (300 pairs) through these new required pieces.
Behind the number of 600 people, there are 300 kinds of dramas. Parents and children laughing together while practicing at home, siblings and friends learning the importance of listening to each other's sounds. After such pairs stand on stages across the country, sharing their nervousness, looking at each other, and finishing their performance... (text ends abruptly)
