The 'Junk Journal Exhibition, Sale & Exchange Event,' first held last year at 'THINGS ‘N’ THANKS,' will be renewed this year as 'Junk Journal Club Japan (JCJ),' taking place from May 9th (Saturday) to June 7th (Sunday).

This renewal is not limited to a name change. For the junk journal exhibition and sale, the number of participating artists has been expanded to approximately double last year's. It will be held in two parts: the first half (May 9th - May 24th) and the second half (May 27th - June 7th), with about 60 works, including journal bodies, share files, and box works, showcasing the charm of materials and the individuality of each artist.

Furthermore, on May 16th (Saturday), a workshop titled 'Collage Experience with Postcard Size' will be held for the first time, designed for beginners to easily participate.

Alongside this, consignment sales by artists collaborating with the workshop will also be conducted. Items popular among collage enthusiasts, such as materials and stamps, will be available throughout the event period to enhance the enjoyment of creation.

Following last year, a material 'exchange event' where visitors can participate will also be held. This system allows visitors to experience 'sharing,' a part of collage culture, among themselves, making it an enjoyable place for interaction.

Its appeal also lies in the fact that even first-timers can easily participate.

The first event last time received a great response, concluding successfully with all works selling out. In response to this feedback, this event aims for further development as a venue to deliver the charm of junk journals to more people. While the exhibition and sale will be held once a year, workshops are planned to be held continuously every few months in the future. Eventually, it aims to develop into an event that gathers many people in a larger venue, leading the spread of junk journal culture.

*What is a Junk Journal?
It is a handmade notebook created by freely collaging and binding so-called 'junk' materials such as old newspapers, old paper, magazine clippings, and used envelopes. 'THINGS ‘N’ THANKS' has been quick to handle vintage stationery and junk journal materials.
