【 Omochi SOLO EXHIBITION "NEW PINK" 】 On Friday, April 3, 2026, tHE GALLERY HARAJUKU, managed by Yasumasa Yonehara, will host a solo exhibition by Omochi titled "NEW PINK." ●STATEMENT Pink is not just a cute color. I have scooped up the pinks found in my daily life and memories through my own filter. While layering it with "kawaii" culture, I am painting a world of pink that feels nostalgic yet new. I would be happy if, after seeing it, your usual scenery looks just a little bit different. ●Artist profile Omochi An artist from Kumamoto. While studying art education in university, she specialized in human sculpture. While presenting works mainly through solo exhibitions, she also creates visuals for various media including advertising, publishing, and the web. Utilizing the soft lines cultivated through sculpture, she creates expressive works with a sense of warmth, using people and animals as motifs. <Instagram> @omochi_mochimochii https://www.instagram.com/omochi_mochimochii <X> @omochi_mochimci https://x.com/omochi_mochimci ●From Curator Yasumasa Yonehara The "pink" that Omochi paints is not merely a "cute color"; it is the pink that emerges between the cuteness envisioned by men and the cuteness lived by women. To explain: masculine cuteness is cuteness as an object—something to be protected or gazed upon from the outside. In contrast, feminine cuteness signifies cuteness as a state of being. It is a cuteness that is chosen while wavering, worn to support one's own self. However, the figures Omochi paints are not captured by either side. While the large eyes and round forms may look like symbolic "kawaii" at first glance, there is a definite sense of presence within them. It signifies not "cuteness to be looked at," but "cuteness that exists here." The concept of "erokawa" (erotic-cute) that I have considered until now is something that arises when body, memory, and time enter into cuteness, and we can see the same structure in Omochi's work. The pink she paints is not just decoration...
