Artist Yusuke Sumi's Exhibition "Nagashimi" to be Held at Shibuya AXSH 3F "Kaidanshitsu (Tamariba)" Starting July 14 (Tue)

Artist Yusuke Sumi Exhibition "Nagashimi"

Theater Workshop Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) will hold the exhibition "Nagashimi" by artist Yusuke Sumi at "Kaidanshitsu (Tamariba)" (Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), a unique rental space on the 3rd floor of Shibuya AXSH, which the company operates and manages. The exhibition will run from July 14 (Tue) to July 26 (Sun), 2026.

This exhibition is a joint project with Yusuke Sumi, organized by Theater Workshop Co., Ltd. to provide "Kaidanshitsu (Tamariba)" as an exhibition venue for artists in Shibuya, a global center of art and culture, with the aim of creating opportunities to showcase artists' works.

▶ Yusuke Sumi's Comment on the Exhibition

"In this exhibition, I will present the series of works "Nagashimi," created based on perspectives gained through research on sculptor Ryokichi Mukai's representative series "Ant Castle." While building upon the ZAS alloy casting techniques I have been developing since an experimental reproduction of the production process of "Ant Castle," I will explore the relationship between materials and forms surrounding "transformation."

▶ Yusuke Sumi YUSUKE WASHIMI Artist

Yusuke Sumi

Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1996. He explores the forms of "transformation" in the contemporary era, using familiar everyday forms and the body as starting points.

Having previously specialized in fashion and sculpture, he has created and presented works in various forms, including three-dimensional works composed of mass-produced plastic items, as well as video and spatial direction. He is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at Musashino Art University Graduate School, where he is researching "Sculpture and Transformation," focusing primarily on sculptor Ryokichi Mukai's representative series "Ant Castle."

Kaidanshitsu (Tamariba)

A small, unique space of approximately 30m2 located on the 3rd floor of Shibuya AXSH, a 5-minute walk from Shibuya Station.

In addition to being used for seminars and photo shoots, it also generates buzz as a place of relaxation for office workers in the same building.
