Born and raised in a musical family where all her grandparents and parents love to sing, maya twiggy has loved singing since childhood and expressed herself through song. Aspiring to be an artist inspired by Billie Eilish, she became known in her high school light music club as a bilingual singer who could perform English songs with overwhelming vocal ability, leading to a scramble for her participation. As a result, she ended up serving as vocalist for three bands simultaneously.

There, she honed her expressive skills by singing covers of various genres, from J-POP and J-ROCK artists like Ringo Shiina, KANA-BOON, and Vaundy to Western artists like Bruno Mars, Billie Eilish, Hannah Montana, and Sabrina Carpenter.

Just before graduating high school, she submitted a cover video to an audition site, which immediately caught the attention of music industry professionals, leading her to seriously pursue a career as an artist.

In 2025, she met Kazunari Takagi of the rapidly rising band Re:name, based in the Kansai region, and recorded her first original song 'PASS ME BY!', written, composed, and produced by Takagi. It was released as her first digital single in March 2026.
