The Macallan Harmony Collection Inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea

On June 2, 2026, The Macallan will release a new product, 'The Macallan Harmony Collection Inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea,' nationwide, in collaboration with 'JING TEA,' a provider of unique and high-quality single-garden teas.

This limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky was born as an homage to the artistry of tea and nature. It joins the 'Harmony Collection' series, which continues to innovate while drawing inspiration from the natural world.

The collection is inspired by 'Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea,' a rare Oolong tea traditionally grown in the Phoenix Mountains of Guangdong, China. This tea is known for its rich aroma, reminiscent of dessert wine, and hints of exotic fruits, leading to the creation of this complex and elegant whisky.

The Macallan's whisky maker team focused on the luscious fragrance and flavor of the tea leaves. By combining three types of casks—American oak casks seasoned with sherry, European oak casks, and American oak casks that previously aged bourbon—they successfully created a complex and elegant taste featuring notes of peach, apricot, floral honey, tropical fruits, toffee, and sweet oak.

Just as JING TEA maintains a philosophy of sourcing leaves directly from producers, The Macallan manages all processes through a commitment to craftsmanship. From partnerships with sherry producers in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, to sourcing oak from its own sawmills in the US and Spain, this thorough dedication to quality, origin, and craftsmanship carries stories that span continents and eras.

Commenting on the collection, Jaume Ferras, Global Creative Director for The Macallan, stated: 'The collaboration with JING TEA celebrates the common ground between whisky and tea—two crafts deeply rooted in nature, tradition, and time. To commemorate the collaboration, The Macallan proposes a special whisky and tea pairing inspired by the spirit of the traditional Chinese 'Gong Fu Tea Ceremony.' This tea culture, with roots in eastern Guangdong, values delicate actions to draw out the characteristics of tea leaves and the rich time spent sharing flavors and aromas among people around one table.

Furthermore, consistent with the four previous releases that center on the connection to nature, this product uses repurposed tea leaves for its packaging as part of its sustainability initiative, embodying the philosophy of the Harmony Collection to create new beauty from natural materials.

'The Macallan Karuizawa'
At the pop-up store 'The Macallan Karuizawa,' which opened on May 1, 2026, a new special menu is available where guests can enjoy pairings of the rare 'Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea' from Guangdong, which inspired this collection, with the whisky. This menu allows guests to experience the 'craftsmanship common to tea and whisky' through the overlapping of aromas and flavors, the terroir of the materials, and the evolution of the finish.
