In line with this, we announce that the Thanko Akihabara Main Store will close on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

Since its opening in 2009, the store has served as one of Akihabara's landmarks, offering many customers the 'joy of interacting with actual devices.' This closure is part of a strategic resource shift for Thanko to respond more swiftly to customer needs and create the next generation of 'excitement.'

■ Towards the Pursuit of Even More 'Thanko-ness'

In response to recent changes in consumer behavior, Thanko has been focusing on strengthening the 'e-commerce purchase experience' and 'communication through social media.'

While the Akihabara Main Store played a major role as a real-world point of contact between Thanko products and customers, we have now decided to shift the know-how and resources from store operations to 'new product development' and 'expanding a digital experience accessible from anywhere in Japan.'
