Tess Holdings Co., Ltd. announced that its consolidated subsidiary, Tess Engineering Co., Ltd., has received an order from Kyusei Inryo Kogyo Co., Ltd. for the installation of a "storage battery" system to be co-located with a solar power plant utilizing the FIP system (transitioning from FIT solar to FIP + co-locating a storage battery). The installation site is Kyusei Inryo Kogyo's Ito Factory in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
This installation project involves transitioning a solar power plant operated under the FIT system by Kyusei Inryo Kogyo to the FIP system, and co-locating it with a storage battery system having a capacity of approximately 8.9 MWh. Following delivery, Tess Engineering plans to provide maintenance, 24-hour remote monitoring, and operational management (aggregation) services, contributing to long-term stable operations.
In recent years, with the widespread adoption of renewable energy power plants under the FIT system, the amount of power generated by renewables has begun to exceed power demand, leading to an increasing trend of output controls (suspension or restriction of power generation) to maintain the balance between electricity supply and demand. Given this situation, transitioning to the FIP system and co-locating storage batteries are drawing attention as a means to effectively utilize renewable energy and contribute to stabilizing the power supply-demand balance.
In the solar power generation business, combining the FIP system with a storage battery allows for charging (storing) electricity when supply exceeds demand and discharging it when demand exceeds supply. This suppresses the underutilization of renewable energy caused by output controls, leading to a reduction in CO2 emissions and an increase in the renewable energy ratio.
Kyusei Inryo Kogyo intends to effectively utilize the storage battery even after the FIP period ends. By using electricity charged during the day at night, they aim to reduce CO2 emissions and plan to use the system as a BCP measure during power outages.
The initiative of "transitioning FIT solar to FIP + co-locating a storage battery" is one of the focused business areas in the medium-term management plan "TX2030" formulated and announced by the Tess Group in August 2024. The company has set a medium-term goal of 150 MW in cumulative installed capacity by 2030 and plans to continue proactive efforts to achieve this target.
Regarding the equipment overview, the system consists of a storage battery system co-located with a solar power plant utilizing the FIP system. The PCS output is 2,556 kW, and the capacity is 8,944 kWh (two 4,472 kWh units manufactured by HUAWEI). The scheduled delivery date is January 2027.
