On the 3rd floor of the art complex facility 'TERRADA ART COMPLEX II' operated by Warehouse TERRADA (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kohei Terada), the art gallery 'Goyo Gallery' will add a new section and begin operating with two spaces. To commemorate the opening of the existing 'Gallery I' and the adjacent 'Gallery II', we will hold 'Goyo Gallery The Collection', showcasing the collection of owner Kenjiro Kimura.
TERRADA ART COMPLEX is one of Japan's largest gallery complexes, gathering numerous galleries active domestically and internationally. It aims to enhance its contents to play a part in Tennoz, the city of art, by providing 'TERRADA ART STUDIO' (rental studios for artists), 'BONDED GALLERY' (a bonded gallery space utilizing a bonded warehouse), and an attached cafe and Japanese tea specialty shop serving as a relaxing place for art fans.
Goyo Gallery moved into TERRADA ART COMPLEX II on April 11, 2025. This expansion, one year after the gallery's relocation, will more clearly present to society the direction Goyo Gallery has discovered through its activities thus far. In an era where digitalization is accelerating due to considerations of efficiency and cost benefits, we believe that the experience of confronting wonderful artworks in a good space becomes even more important, leading to the decision to expand operations to two spaces: 'Gallery I' and 'Gallery II'.
In this exhibition commemorating the dual-space operation, we will introduce carefully selected works from owner Kenjiro Kimura's collection, presenting the perspective the gallery has cultivated over the years. Moving forward, the existing 'Gallery I' and the expanded 'Gallery II' will not only host cross-sectional exhibitions by the same artist but also curate exhibitions featuring different artists to generate interactions and new contexts between artworks. The exhibitions will be renewed monthly, creating a space to engage carefully with more artists. We plan to actively expand our activities to broaden understanding and interest in contemporary art, while remaining an entity that respects the origins, philosophies, and inevitability of expression of each artist, supporting them from a long-term perspective.
In addition to TERRADA ART COMPLEX, our company is engaged in urban development to make Tennoz a major hub for art through the operation of art and culture broadcasting facilities such as the contemporary art and architecture museum 'WHAT MUSEUM', the art gallery cafe 'WHAT CAFE', and the art materials lab 'PIGMENT TOKYO'. We will continue to collaborate with galleries leading the contemporary art scene and provide services that help vitalize the art market.
