EV (electric vehicle) charging service “Terra Charge” provider, Terra Charge Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Toru Tokushige; hereinafter “the Company”), has launched 50kW fast chargers for EVs at the Yokohama Station West Exit Underground Parking Lot and Konandai Birds, operated by Sotetsu Building Management Co., Ltd. (Head office: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Makoto Sato; hereinafter “Sotetsu Building Management”).

■ Background Towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, the popularization of EVs and the expansion of charging infrastructure are rapidly accelerating. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry aims to install 300,000 EV chargers by 2030, necessitating the development of convenient charging environments nationwide.

The Company, in aiming to realize a sustainable society through Sotetsu Building Management's commercial facility operations, has introduced the “Terra Charge” service to support efforts to reduce environmental impact through the development of EV charging infrastructure. Particularly, the installation at the underground parking lot in front of Yokohama Station, a terminal station, provides a highly convenient EV usage environment unique to railway group companies.

Currently, approximately 68,000 charging ports (※1) are installed in Japan, and the Company is developing an infrastructure network on a scale that accounts for a portion of this. Flexible installation is possible depending on the needs of the installed facility and users, or the charging scene, and we are working to develop an environment where EVs can be charged anywhere, from home to destinations.

Our service offers free initial, maintenance, and operating costs for facilities, and by adopting Japanese-made hardware, the risk of part shortages is low. We also provide a 24-hour, 365-day call center and payment/management functions. With this high reliability and extensive after-sales maintenance system, we will provide an environment where both operators and users can use the service with peace of mind.
