Terra Charge Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Toru Tokushige; hereinafter "the Company"), which develops the EV (electric vehicle) charging service "Terra Charge," has launched a 50kW output EV fast charger service at the Yokohama Station West Exit Underground Parking Lot and Konandai Birds, operated by Sotetsu Building Management Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa; President: Makoto Sato; hereinafter "Sotetsu Building Management").
■ Background
Toward the realization of carbon neutrality by 2050, the spread of EVs and the expansion of charging infrastructure are accelerating rapidly. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has set a target of installing 300,000 EV charging ports by 2030, calling for the development of highly convenient charging environments nationwide.
To achieve a sustainable society through commercial facility operations by Sotetsu Building Management and support efforts to reduce environmental impact by building EV charging infrastructure, they have introduced the "Terra Charge" service. In particular, by installing them in the underground parking lot in front of Yokohama Station, a major terminal, it provides a highly convenient EV usage environment unique to a railway-affiliated group.
Currently, there are approximately 68,000 charging ports (*1) installed domestically, and the Company is deploying an infrastructure network on a scale that forms a cornerstone of this. Flexible introduction is possible depending on the installation facility, user needs, or charging scenarios, and we are working on creating an environment where EVs can be charged anywhere, from homes to destinations.
In addition to the facility's initial, maintenance, and operation costs being free, our service utilizes Japanese-made hardware to reduce the risk of parts shortages, and is fully equipped with a 24/365 call center and payment/management functions. Through this high reliability and robust after-sales maintenance structure, we will continue to provide an environment that both operators and users can use with peace of mind.
