Hirata Industry Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chikusa-ku, Nagoya; Representative Director: Yuki Hirata), which operates the bathing facility 'Tenko no Yu' in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture, has grand opened a new mixed-gender outdoor sauna area called 'Mandara' on Friday, March 27, 2026, as part of its 20th-anniversary project.

This project includes the opening of the new mixed-gender outdoor sauna area 'Mandara,' the establishment of a private rental area 'Rikyu,' and the addition of saunas to the existing spa area, resulting in the birth of 13 new saunas. With these additions, Tenko no Yu has evolved into one of Japan's leading sauna resorts, now featuring a total of 19 saunas.

Furthermore, this project launched on the crowdfunding service 'Makuake' on February 16, 2026, reaching its goal of 1 million yen in approximately one and a half hours. It has garnered significant attention, raising over 12 million yen from more than 1,700 supporters to date.

■ What is the mixed-gender outdoor sauna area 'Mandara'?

'Mandara' is a unique new outdoor sauna area developed to realize Tenko no Yu's ideal of 'supreme relaxation,' deeply fusing Japanese spirituality with nature. Driven by the desire to 'create a place where people can escape the hustle and bustle, be more free, find peace of mind, and become one with nature,' the area was developed by expanding the existing facility, clearing the mountain behind the site, and utilizing the building's rooftop.

This area consists of a total of 8 saunas, including 3 'Wano' saunas, 4 barrel saunas, and 1 giant tent sauna. Through design and spatial production in harmony with nature, it creates a new sauna experience that cannot be enjoyed at conventional bathing facilities.

The area is designed for mixed-gender use, requiring swimwear and ponchos. Guests can enjoy the sauna to their heart's content with family, partners, and friends, sharing the same steam and feeling the same breeze while conversing.
