[Tenko no Yu 20th Anniversary Project] New Outdoor Sauna Area "Mandara" Grand Opening on Friday, March 27! Crowdfunding Support Exceeds 12 Million Yen, 13 New Saunas Created.

Hirata Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chikusa-ku, Nagoya City; Representative Director: Yuki Hirata), which operates the hot spring facility "Tenko no Yu" in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture, has advanced the development and preparation of a new mixed-gender outdoor sauna area, "Mandara," as the Tenko no Yu 20th Anniversary Project, and grandly opened it on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Through this project, 13 new saunas have been created with the opening of the new mixed-gender outdoor sauna area "Mandara," the establishment of a new private rental area "Rikyu," and the expansion of saunas in the existing spa area. As a result, Tenko no Yu has evolved into one of Japan's leading sauna resorts, featuring a total of 19 saunas.

Additionally, this project launched on the crowdfunding service "Makuake" on February 16, 2026, and achieved its target amount of 1 million yen in just about an hour and a half. To date, it has garnered significant attention, raising over 12 million yen in support and acquiring more than 1,700 supporters.

■ What is the Mixed-Gender Outdoor Sauna Area "Mandara"?

"Mandara" is a unique new outdoor sauna area where Japanese spirituality and nature are deeply fused, developed to realize the "supreme state of totonoi (sauna trance)" idealized by Tenko no Yu. Born from the desire to "create a place away from the hustle and bustle where one can be freer, more peaceful, and at one with nature," we developed this new sauna area by not only expanding existing facilities but also clearing the mountain behind the site and utilizing the building's rooftop.

This area consists of a total of 8 saunas, featuring 3 Wano Saunas, 4 barrel saunas, and 1 giant tent sauna. Through design and spatial direction that harmonize with nature, we create a new sauna experience that cannot be found in conventional hot spring facilities.

Furthermore, this area is designed to be shared by men and women wearing swimwear and ponchos. You can converse with family, partners, and close friends, enveloped in the same steam and feeling the same breeze, enjoying the sauna to your heart's content.

Going beyond the boundaries of everyday life, to what lies beyond the "supreme state of totonoi." We offer the liberation of mind and body and the value of new experiences.

■ "Wano Sauna" - Original Saunas Rooted in Japan

In this area, we have developed and installed three original "Wano Saunas," paying close attention to shape and materials, themed around the three Japanese spirits of "Wa." We have incorporated each philosophy into the spatial design, expressing them as saunas where you can experience the spirituality of Japanese culture.

Additionally, sauna illustrations created by the painting unit "Daruma Shoten" are installed inside the saunas. Through their unique expression that fuses brush and ink with rich, vivid colors, the space is directed so that you can feel the beauty of Japan, a fusion of classical and modern, throughout the entire area. It visually invites you to the liberation of the spirit that lies beyond "totonoi."

■ Expansion of the Existing Spa Area and Establishment of the Private Rental Area "Rikyu"

In this renewal, in addition to the opening of the new outdoor sauna area "Mandara," we have expanded the existing spa area and established the new private rental area "Rikyu," further enhancing the overall sauna experience of the facility.

1. Existing Spa Area (Men's Bath)

We have newly established the herbal steam sauna "Mushiyaki." This fully custom-designed high-temperature steam sauna fills the space with dense steam, providing an experience as if your entire body is being "steamed." It also features a design that combines profoundness and presence by adopting mortar black for the exterior. Enveloped in the scent of herbs, it guides you into a deep steam bath.

2. Existing Spa Area (Women's Bath)

We have newly established three private room-type saunas as the single-person sauna "Meiso" (Meditation). Each has a different temperature setting, allowing you to choose from 80°C "Midsummer," 90°C "Fierce Heat," and 100°C "Extreme Heat," according to your physical condition and mood of the day. They also support self-löyly, allowing you to enjoy quiet sauna time facing yourself without worrying about your surroundings.

3. Private Rental Area "Rikyu"

Tenko no Yu's fully private rental area "Rikyu" has newly opened. The PRIVATE SAUNA in the area features an authentic barrel sauna. This barrel-shaped sauna, enveloped in the warmth of wood, is characterized by soft heat and fragrance, allowing you to spend a special time relaxing. It provides a luxurious sauna experience in a calm environment unique to a private space.

■ Notice of Facility Name Change

In conjunction with this renewal, we will change the facility name from "SAUNA&SPA Tenko no Yu" to "SAUNA RESORT Tenko no Yu."

With the opening of the new mixed-gender outdoor sauna area "Mandara" and the expansion of saunas throughout the facility, we have evolved into a facility that offers a more diverse sauna experience. Accordingly, we are changing the name to represent the new value of the facility.

■ Makuake Project Report

We launched our project on the crowdfunding service "Makuake" on February 16, 2026. We achieved our target amount of 1 million yen in about an hour and a half from the start, and secured "2nd place in the overall ranking" and "1st place in the outdoor category" on the Makuake ranking that day.

Currently, the total support purchase amount has exceeded 12 million yen, with over 1,700 supporters and more than 300 supportive comments, receiving backing from many people. The project will continue even after the grand opening and is scheduled to run until April 29, 2026.
