High-performance textile brand alltec will release "Reverse AJISAI & HIMAWARI" as a new product for Spring/Summer 2026 on Thursday, April 30.

The alltec "Reverse" series is a double-sided print textile conceived by textile designer Yuri Himuro. Botanical patterns are printed with high-precision inkjet technology on both the front and back of the textile, creating a design where the front and back patterns overlap when sunlight shines through, evoking the feeling of being under dappled sunlight. In 2024, the first series, "Reverse ACACIA & WISTERIA," was launched as a parasol/rain umbrella.

The second series, "Reverse AJISAI & HIMAWARI," features vibrant patterns with hydrangea and sunflower motifs. Three types of items are available: a long parasol/rain umbrella for 19,800 yen (tax included), a mini (folding umbrella) for 19,030 yen (tax included), and a multi-cloth for 4,950 yen (tax included). All items are treated with durable water repellent and UV protection.

■ Background of Development

The "Reverse" series was conceived by textile designer Yuri Himuro. Based on alltec's concept, "reduce daily discomfort and make life more enjoyable and comfortable," she proposed a design where the front and back patterns overlap, allowing people to positively enjoy sunlight, which is often avoided due to sunburn and summer heat.

"The comfort of dappled sunlight spreading when you look up. To deliver such a new sensation, we achieved technically difficult double-sided printing on fabric. We thoroughly selected materials to create depth without intentionally unifying the front and back patterns. By deriving the ideal balance of waterproofness and transparency, the unique 'Reverse series' was completed. It's a product where design and function merge, allowing you to feel the peace of being in the shade even on rainy days." (Masaaki Kato, alltec Brand Manager, Tech One Co., Ltd.)

"I wanted to create an umbrella that makes going out in the rain or shine enjoyable. The initial idea was an umbrella that feels like being in dappled sunlight. Usually, umbrellas only have patterns on the outside, but the Reverse series has double-sided printing, so you can enjoy the pattern from both the outside and inside, which is a big feature. During development, I had to design both the front and back views simultaneously, so I went outside with test prints to verify how they looked in actual sunlight and on rainy days. I focused on the most beautiful overlapping color shades when light passed through, comparing the imagined colors with the prototype colors." (Textile Designer Yuri Himuro)

■ Design Features

Textile designer Yuri Himuro designed rain goods that transform daily discomfort caused by rain and sunlight into enjoyment through design.

1: When the umbrella is opened, the front and back patterns overlap, creating a vivid scene when you look up.
2: Printing different colored floral patterns on the front and back creates a sense of depth when the patterns overlap.
3: With durable water repellent and UV protection, it can be used as both a rain umbrella and a parasol.

■ Comment from Textile Designer Yuri Himuro

"The two new patterns, AJISAI and HIMAWARI, were designed with colors that brighten the mood even on rainy days. AJISAI is a motif that naturally blends into the rainy season, and HIMAWARI makes you feel bright and energetic even on rainy days. Strong sunlight and rain tend to be viewed negatively, but this umbrella was designed to shine beautifully on such days. I hope it becomes something that makes going out with an umbrella a little more enjoyable, whether it's raining or sunny. I hope it becomes an opportunity to feel a little brighter when you open the umbrella."
