Tech Japan Inc. announced that it will participate as a subcontracting partner of Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support Co., Ltd. (DTVS), the contractor for Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry project, “Co-creation with the Global South through Technology and Talent Collaboration: Talent Platform Project for Acquiring Outstanding IT and AI Talent” (GS-Japan Tech Talent Internship). Tech Japan will help jointly promote the initiative. Following its participation in the previous fiscal year, Tech Japan will focus this year on partnerships with top Indian institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), while expanding target countries to the broader Global South, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The project will strongly support Japanese companies in recruiting advanced talent in IT, AI, semiconductors and related fields. Global demand for talent in AI, semiconductors and advanced software is rapidly increasing, making the acquisition of outstanding IT and AI professionals a critical management issue for Japanese companies’ international competitiveness. Amid intense competition from the United States, Europe and Asian countries, Japanese companies need long-term trust-based relationships with local universities and governments to secure advanced foreign talent in a stable manner. Tech Japan has continuously worked with METI and the Embassy of India in Japan on working groups related to India recruitment by Japanese companies. It also signed an MoU with IIT Hyderabad in 2019 and has built independent relationships of trust with top universities across India. As a core implementation partner, Tech Japan will operate the platform, organize local events and support internship hosting. The project period runs until March 31, 2027. DTVS is the main contractor, with Tech Japan and others serving as subcontractors. Leveraging its partnerships with IIT and other leading Asian universities, its HR platform Talendy for advanced Indian talent, and its experience supporting employment at Japanese companies, Tech Japan will handle student recruitment and skill assessment, seven in-person employment promotion events from August to October 2026, internship matching from September 2026 to February 2027, and collaboration with young Indian researchers visiting Japan through JST’s LOTUS program. Participating companies may receive partial support for employment promotion event costs, internship hosting support, talent development subsidies, opportunities to join recruitment-related events in the Global South, and access to Talendy for student recruitment, skill visualization, interview coordination and selection management. Visa and hosting operations support will also be provided. The application deadline for companies joining employment promotion events and the first round of internship hosting is June 30, 2026. The deadline for the second round of internship hosting is July 31, 2026. A company briefing session will be held on May 29, 2026, from 16:00 to 18:00 in a hybrid format, with an in-person venue in Tokyo and online streaming.
