TeamLab was responsible for the planning, design, UI/UX development, implementation, and data migration for the full renewal of Keio University's official website. The renewal aimed to transform the website into an 'entrance to understand Keio University,' effectively communicating its philosophy, education, research, and student life to new visitors, beyond just providing admissions and internal information. To achieve a consistent message across Keio University, 27 websites, comprising approximately 32,000 pages, were migrated to a unified platform. This involved reorganizing the site structure and implementing a simple UI/UX to ensure visitors could easily access desired information from the vast number of pages. The website also enhanced its support for diverse users by implementing Japanese-English bilingual mirroring, leveraging Keio University's AI infrastructure, and strengthening web accessibility measures. Previously, Keio University's information was fragmented across 27 separate faculty, graduate school, administrative, and research department websites, each with its own structure and operational methods, making information discovery challenging. To address this, content structures were reorganized, and 'TeamLab CMS' was utilized to template content into a common format for migration. TeamLab CMS enables centralized content management and dynamic page generation, establishing an efficient and stable foundation for information dissemination across all departments. To further enhance content design from a technical perspective, TeamLab's recommendation engine, 'TeamLab Recommend,' was introduced. This engine personalizes content in real-time based on user browsing history and attributes. Additionally, a proprietary search engine, 'TeamLab Search,' was integrated to improve user convenience, offering customized search results optimized for each content piece beyond simple keyword searches. The reorganization of site structure and the introduction of TeamLab Search and TeamLab Recommend significantly improved the ease of finding information within the extensive page collection, through site-wide search and recommendations based on content, faculties, and instructors. A new feature, 'Keio BOARD,' was also established, linking AI-generated tags to pages, allowing users to explore content by theme. This organically connects previously underutilized rich content from various sites, transforming the website from merely 'searching for information' to 'encountering information.' To support active recruitment of international students and enhance its global research communication, Keio University implemented comprehensive Japanese-English bilingual support during this full renewal. To overcome the operational challenge of manually translating all daily updated pages, the TeamLab CMS integrated an AI-powered machine translation function. Furthermore, web accessibility was strengthened with a target of 'JIS X 8341-3:2016' Level AA, ensuring the site is user-friendly and viewable for a wide range of visitors.
