TV Asahi Corporation held the opening ceremony for its multi-purpose entertainment facility, "TOKYO DREAM PARK," on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in Ariake, Tokyo.
This facility was born as a core project of the media city strategy that TV Asahi has been promoting company-wide, based on the philosophy that "the source of all value lies in content." Furthermore, under the new management plan, "START UP TV Asahi!! Management Plan 2026-2029," it is positioned as a business base for generating new innovation. The facility aims to be a new hub for dissemination where entertainment and technology fuse, including live events utilizing TV Asahi's proprietary IP.
The opening ceremony featured greetings from distinguished guests, including Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, Dentsu Inc. Representative Director and President Tsuyoshi Sano, and Toyota Alvark Tokyo Co., Ltd. Representative Director and Chairman Shigeru Hayakawa.
At the opening of the ceremony, Hiroshi Hayakawa, Representative Director and Chairman of TV Asahi Holdings Corporation, representing the organizers, expressed his gratitude to all those involved and shared his thoughts on the vision for "TOKYO DREAM PARK."
■ Organizer Greeting: Hiroshi Hayakawa, Representative Director and Chairman, TV Asahi Holdings Corporation
This project, "TOKYO DREAM PARK," began six years ago in 2020 when we acquired this land in Ariake, agreeing with the future-style waterfront city concept put forward by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. It was a strategic decision based on the realization that the growth of advertising revenue, which supports our core television business, had stalled, and that we needed to develop a new business to complement it into the future.
In addition, although TV Asahi achieved the "triple crown" in viewership ratings for two consecutive years, it was necessary to face new goals without stopping there. Gathering all our knowledge—our track record in entertainment program production over more than 65 years since our launch, including "Music Station" and "Untitled Concert," the know-how from the EX Theater that opened in 2013, and the business experience from the Roppongi Hills Summer Festival which attracted 1 to 2 million people annually in conjunction with it—we are envisioning a concrete image of creating innovation by fusing entertainment with digital technology and accelerating growth with the revenue from it.
"Entertainment" is generally translated as amusement, but it also has the meaning of "hospitality" or "entertaining guests." When I conveyed the intention of hospitality to the many productions, music-related companies, and artists who have supported us in program production and events to date, and asked for their cooperation and participation, the entertainment programs for the two theaters at Tokyo Dream Park were almost fully booked for the next year. I am truly moved by your prompt cooperation.
We hope that the new experiences, culture, and entertainment born here will contribute to the further development of the Bay Area by linking with television, and that we will enhance the charm and vitality of the new city together with everyone. I would like to express my deepest gratitude once again for the tremendous support we received from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Koto Ward, and other local governments, the residents of the Ariake area, our business partner companies, and the related companies present today in realizing and developing the Tokyo Dream Park business.
We decided on the brand vision for Tokyo Dream Park as "Starting from Obsession."
With that thought in mind, "I hereby declare the opening of Tokyo Dream Park!!"
■ TOKYO DREAM PARK Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony was held at the "EX THEATER ARIAKE" theater within "TOKYO DREAM PARK." The event opened with a spectacular performance by Japanese drum player Eitetsu Hayashi and the members of Fuun no Kai, watched by many visitors and stakeholders.
After the greeting by Hiroshi Hayakawa of TV Asahi Holdings Corporation, a special program was conducted that toured the facility via relay. The footage, which began from above the Tokyo Waterfront City, introduced the completed areas of the building, including the heliport, while connecting in real-time.
Furthermore, congratulatory messages were received from Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, Sandwichman, Chisako Takashima, and Yutaka Mizutani, and the ceremony closed on a high note in a glamorous atmosphere from start to finish.
■ Lineup Adding Color to the Opening of TOKYO DREAM PARK
[SGC HALL ARIAKE] Opening Premiere Series
At the "SGC Hall Ariake," a multi-purpose hall that is the core facility of "TOKYO DREAM PARK," we will hold an "Opening Premiere Series" to commemorate the opening. This series will feature gorgeous artists who have garnered support across generations and genres, including the opening performance by "B'z," as well as "Tatsuro Yamashita," "Sakanaction," "Shonan no Kaze," "Atarashii Gakko!," "Dai Hirai," and "Ketsumeishi." Leveraging the high sense of realism provided by the state-of-the-art immersive audio system that "SGC Hall Ariake" boasts, we will develop special stages with diverse live performances and create new music experiences.
[EX THEATER ARIAKE] AmberS
At the new theater "EX THEATER ARIAKE" born within "TOKYO DREAM PARK," we will develop diverse stage works by making the most of the stage structure and acoustic design ideal for plays and musicals. As its opening performance, we will stage "AmberS," a completely original work for which Shigeaki Kato serves as creative producer, original author, and scriptwriter. Masahiko Kawahara will be in charge of direction, and Kazuya Ohashi (Naniwa Danshi) and Takuto Teranishi (timelesz) have been decided for the double lead roles, delivering a notable stage that will decorate the opening of the new theater.
[EX STUDIO 7] 100% Doraemon & Friends in Tokyo
At the event space "EX STUDIO 7" within "TOKYO DREAM PARK," we will hold the exhibition event "100% Doraemon & Friends," which has gained popularity all over the world. This event, which has toured Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangkok, Taiwan, and other places and fascinated many fans, makes its first landing in Japan. We will develop a variety of content, including exhibitions inside and outside the venue, joint projects with "TOKYO GREEN BIZ," and special projects with the "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Sky Utopia" (Note: article text cites 'New Nobita's Underwater Adventure' but based on standard Doraemon localization naming). This is an experiential event that characters familiar to everyone, such as Doraemon and Nobita, appear in and that people of all generations can enjoy.
[EX STUDIO 8] RÊVE DES LUMIÈRES
At "EX STUDIO 8" in Tokyo Dream Park, we will develop the immersive digital art theater "RÊVE DES LUMIÈRES." A digital art facility that attracted over 1 million people annually in Paris lands in Japan for the first time. By creating light and sound performances with over 100 projectors and high-quality sound, we will create an immersive space where you can experience authentic art with your five senses. We plan to feature "Van Gogh" as the commemorative first screening work, providing a new experience where anyone can feel art close to them. It is scheduled to open in early summer 2026.
