May 11, 2026 | Tata Consultancy Services Japan Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Satish Thiagarajan; hereinafter "Japan TCS") has signed a comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) with JAL Digital Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Keisuke Suzuki; hereinafter "JALDX") to further accelerate the JAL Group's digital transformation (DX) initiatives.
■ Background and Purpose
Since forging a strategic partnership in 2019, JALDX and Japan TCS have deepened their collaboration on various critical projects, including the refresh of the Passenger Service System (PSS) (SAKURA Project) and support for ZIPAIR system integration. By transitioning from an on-demand contract model to a comprehensive and long-term cooperation (SPA), both companies aim to maximize overall volume benefits, streamline ordering procedures, and significantly shorten lead times. Through this agreement, they seek to establish a stable operational structure, introduce global expertise, and continuously improve productivity. The objective is to contribute to creating new value in JAL Group's passenger services and enhancing its ability to quickly respond to changing aviation demand.
■ Key Initiatives in This Partnership
1. Ensuring a Preferential and Stable Digital Response System
A preferential and stable response system (resource for domain leaders) will be secured in development, PM/PMO, and maintenance areas. This will enable optimal personnel assignments, leading to significantly shorter delivery times and further improvements in quality.
2. Productivity Improvement Leveraging AI and Global Scale Benefits
Japan TCS will maximize its strength in "global scale benefits based on AI utilization" to achieve maximum process efficiency in development, testing, and maintenance phases. Through the collaboration of both companies, the goal is to improve productivity in development and maintenance.
3. Introduction of Global Expertise Through Secondment of Highly Skilled IT Personnel
To directly bring Japan TCS's extensive experience and knowledge in global standard solutions like Amadeus and its track record with overseas airlines to JALDX, Japan TCS will dispatch consultants, project managers (PMs), and architects to JALDX.
4. Support for Developing Next-Generation DX Talent
Practical training programs will be implemented within projects to improve development skills and foster a global mindset among JALDX employees (primarily those in their growth phase). This program includes training support, such as stays in India, creating opportunities for mutual understanding at the field level and international experience.
■ Future Outlook
Through this strategic partnership, JALDX and Japan TCS will build a strong collaborative framework, contributing to the creation of new value in JAL Group's passenger services and enhancing its ability to quickly respond to changing aviation demand.
Keisuke Suzuki, President and Representative Director of JAL Digital, stated:
"To respond more swiftly to the ever-changing needs of our customers and societal demands, agility and speed in IT system development are essential. Through this strategic partnership, with the support of Japan TCS's robust project system, we will further shorten development lead times and enhance our ability to adapt to change. By integrating the aviation business knowledge cultivated by the JAL Group with the world-class technological capabilities fostered globally by Japan TCS, we will accelerate the creation of new value more than ever before, continuing to provide service experiences that exceed customer expectations."
Satish Thiagarajan, President and Representative Director of Japan TCS, commented:
"We are deeply honored to evolve our long-standing collaboration with JAL Digital into a comprehensive and strategic partnership. The aviation industry is currently at a major turning point, facing global competitive landscape changes and accelerating transformations driven by digital technology. In this context, we are proud to work together with JAL Digital, which is at the core of supporting the DX of Japan's leading airline group, on future-oriented reforms. In this partnership, TCS will combine its global AI utilization initiatives, standardized delivery models, and proven track record and expertise with airlines worldwide, to deliver value with both speed and quality. Additionally, as a crucial investment for both companies' future, we will promote the exchange and development of highly specialized personnel. Through the secondment of our personnel and JAL Digital employees' participation in projects at our India base, we will foster the next generation of talent.
