TATEYAMA GIN Genever Style 01 ---Sandalwood × Sencha

TATEYAMA BREWING Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture) has developed a new style of gin, inspired by the production method of Genever, which can be called the ancestor of gin, by modernizing and reinterpreting it. We are announcing it today to coincide with World Gin Day (June 13, 2026).

What is Genever?

It is an alcoholic beverage made by distilling a grain-based fermented liquid (mash), then adding more fermented liquid and distilling it again. This process is repeated to create malt wine, which is then distilled with botanicals to finish. Inspired by this production method, we reinterpreted it in the TATEYAMA style to develop a new Genever style.

Hokkaido Corn Grits

Among grains, we selected corn as the base raw material due to its excellent balance of richness and sweetness, which brings out the characteristic Genever flavor.

01 Sandalwood × Sencha

The first release of TATEYAMA GIN Genever Style features sandalwood and sencha green tea as the main botanicals. Layering the milky, woody aroma of sandalwood and the fresh, leaf-like aroma of sencha green tea over the full-bodied richness of the fermented corn spirit, we have added the fruitiness of strawberries, the freshness of kuromoji (lindera umbellata), and the lingering aftertaste of shiso (perilla).
