Tansu no Gen Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Okawa City, Fukuoka; CEO: Hirokazu Hashizume), a furniture and interior e-commerce company, has released the 'Pedal-Opening Frame Trash Can,' adding a convenient foot-pedal function to its popular frame-structured waste bins.
This product is a new concept model that pursues convenience while leveraging the advantages of the 'frame type'—which allows bags to be used to their full capacity and makes bag replacement easy. While conventional frame-style trash cans are typically manual, this product adopts a pedal system, enabling non-contact operation even when your hands are full while cooking. Since it has no side panels, there is no need to wash the trash can itself, making daily disposal more hygienic.
Key features include: - **Pedal-Opening Function:** Allows for smart waste disposal even when hands are full. - **Hygienic Structure:** The frame-only design prevents dirt accumulation and odor transfer, eliminating the need to wash the unit. - **Easy Disposal:** Garbage bags can be pulled out from the front through the frame, so there's no need to lift heavy bags. - **Non-Slip Stopper:** Ensures bags do not slip even when heavy, utilizing the full volume of the bag.
The developer, Takumi Shingu, noted that the biggest challenge was ensuring the pedal remained accessible even when the bag expanded with waste. This was solved by extending the lid slightly beyond the frame, allowing easy access and hand-opening if needed. The bin comes in 30L and 45L sizes, with the 45L model supporting two bags for waste sorting.
