Tama Central Park to Host “Park Carnival in TAMA 2026” on May 30

Tama Central Park, located five minutes on foot from Tama Center Station, will become a carnival venue with events held throughout the park. A stage truck will appear in the large lawn area, featuring live singing, dancing, street performances, and a group hula dance session. Alpacas will also visit the venue, with opportunities for interaction and feeding, plus sales of alpaca goods and bread. At the terrace in front of the large pond, a special edition of the monthly Waterside Marche will be held with food trucks and lively booths. At BOOK Park, visitors can build colorful secret bases together, followed by evening illumination and a light-filled tunnel exploration. At the historic Former Tomizawa Residence inside the park, the “Old-Time Living Tour” will let visitors experience clothing, food, housing, and daily routines from the past. The popular old folk house cafe will also open. Additional family-friendly programs will take place at the Central Library, Parthenon Tama, and the Green Live Center. Main programs include stage performances at the large lawn from 11:00 to 16:00, featuring Hula Kiana, street performer KAYA, ukulele singer KAIKI, and Tama-born comedy performer Do Do Di Da Da; alpaca interaction and feeding from 10:30 to 13:00; and old-time living experiences at the Former Tomizawa Residence from 8:00 to 19:30, including tatami retreat, kimono-style dress-up, old folk house cafe, kamado-cooked food, folk tool displays, curator talks, Mekai craft making, washi lantern workshops, bamboo lantern garden illumination, and an evening rakugo performance. Other programs include the Waterside Marche Special from 10:00 to 16:00, an automatic musical instrument concert from Parthenon Tama to the Central Library from 10:00 to 10:50, colorful secret base building at BOOK Park from 11:00 to 19:00, ring toss and hopscotch-style outdoor play at Parthenon Tama Children’s Plaza OLIVE from 11:00 to 15:00, and Green Live Center activities such as shiitake log inoculation, a flower quiz rally, and bottle aquarium making.
