Yokohama Takashimaya will hold “YOKOHAMA Blooming Weeks” from Wednesday, May 20 to Tuesday, June 2 to celebrate Yokohama’s Port Opening Anniversary. Tuesday, June 2 is Yokohama City’s Port Opening Anniversary, a commemorative day marking the 1859 opening of Yokohama Port as an international trading port. It can also be described as Yokohama’s birthday. To celebrate this important day with the local community, the department store will host a variety of events. Participatory events include “A Flowering Earth Created Together,” held from May 20 to May 31 at the special front venue on the first floor. Visitors can use Seed Paper® to help create a collage artwork titled “Flowering Earth.” The completed artwork will be on display until May 31. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis and will end once the artwork is completed. Seed Paper® is an eco-friendly 100% recycled paper made from corporate wastepaper and embedded with various flower and herb seeds. When soaked in water overnight and planted in soil during spring or summer, it sprouts within a few days and eventually blooms. Each sheet is handmade and naturally dried. From 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, Seed Paper® will be distributed to the first 500 visitors at the special front venue on the first floor, while supplies last. On Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, “Blooming RING Action in Yokohama Takashimaya” will also be held at the same venue. Blooming RING Action is a participatory action program organized by the GREEN×EXPO Association to build momentum for GREEN×EXPO 2027. Blooming RING items will be distributed at the first-floor main entrance to the first 300 visitors each day, while supplies last. On Saturday, May 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., a public live broadcast of Marine FM’s “Yokohama Voice Street” segment “GO! GRITS! GO!” will take place at the first-floor special venue. Players from the Yokohama-based ice hockey team Yokohama GRITS are scheduled to appear, giving visitors a chance to enjoy live radio atmosphere and interact with the team up close. Player appearances and event details may change depending on circumstances. On Sunday, May 31 at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., the “YOKOHAMA Youth Dance Stage” will be held on the rooftop special stage inside Beer Garden Miami. Each performance is expected to last about 30 minutes. Viewing is limited to customers using Beer Garden Miami, and advance reservations are recommended. Elementary, junior high and high school dancers will perform routines they have practiced with their peers. Scheduled performers include Zushi Dance Studio B-SWAG, Studio Island, DJ SHUN and MC ASOKA. To support Hama Fes Y167, which will be held on May 30 and 31, Yokohama Takashimaya will also offer Hama Fes Curry presented by Hama Fes gourmet ambassador Hashi, also known as Yo Hashimoto. Hama Fes Curry must be curry-flavored and use at least one Yokohama ingredient. From Wednesday, May 27 to Sunday, June 7, the Yokotaka Curry Festival will also be held at Foodies' Port 1 and 2 on basement level 1, cafes on the sixth floor, the Rose Dining restaurant area on the eighth floor, and the rooftop beer garden.
