↑[Kinki Traditional Art Crafts Award] Carved and Underglaze-Blue Bowl 'Trifoliate Orange' (Sometsuke-horibachi 'Karatachi') by Aya Honda
In 1950, the Act on Protection of Cultural Properties was enacted, leading to national protection and promotion of craft techniques deemed of particularly high historical and artistic value. In line with this purpose, the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition has been held since 1954, featuring carefully selected and judged works by artists across seven categories: ceramics, textiles, lacquerware, metalwork, wood and bamboo crafts, dolls, and other crafts.
This 55th exhibition will display 187 selected works (including posthumous works) that have passed the screening, from a total of 227 submissions, including works by five Living National Treasures.
During the exhibition period, there will also be gallery talks by artists from each category and the award winners of this year's exhibition.
