[Important] Kyoto Takashimaya Seeks Art Submissions to Decorate Store for 80th Anniversary of Shijo Kawaramachi Store Opening: 'Atrium Art 2027' Public Call for Entries

This December, Kyoto Takashimaya marks its 80th anniversary since opening in Shijo Kawaramachi. To celebrate this milestone, we are seeking art submissions to decorate the store's interior, including the atrium at the main entrance, for the entire year of 2027.

The theme is "Seasons of Kyoto, the Ancient Capital." Submitted works will be judged, processed into sheets through digital scanning, and used for interior decoration.

・Application Period: April 1, 2026 (Wednesday) 0:00 AM - June 30, 2026 (Tuesday) 11:59 PM (Must arrive by June 30, 2026 (Tuesday) if submitting by mail)

・Decoration Period: One year from January 2027 (scheduled)

・Decoration Locations: Kyoto Takashimaya Main Entrance Atrium, 2nd Floor Wall Sides (decorated surface of floor edges), etc.

・Announcement of Selected Works: September 1, 2026 (Tuesday) on the Kyoto Takashimaya website (scheduled)

・Selected Prize: Takashimaya Gift Card worth ¥10,000

　　　　　　*Even if multiple works are selected, only one prize will be awarded per person.

・Submission Theme: Image of decoration "Seasons of Kyoto, the Ancient Capital" Motifs evoking Kyoto, the ancient capital.

・Submission Requirements: Submissions must be flat works. Formats are open, including hand-drawn, CG, prints, etc. The submitted work will be used as material, and modifications may be made for interior decoration with the author's consent.

　　　　　*Works created using image generation AI cannot be submitted.

　　　　　*Our mascot character, Rose-chan, cannot be used.

　　　　　Format: As a condition for decoration, works should generally be landscape orientation. For hand-drawn works, the basic size is a "shikishi" drawing paper (approx. 39x54cm) or A3 size (29.7x42cm). Landscape or longer formats are also acceptable. Please inquire if you wish to use other sizes.

　　　　　Number of Submissions: Series submissions are possible, but only some works may be selected due to decoration constraints.

・Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older (at the time of application). Applications are accepted from individuals only; group applications are not permitted.

・How to Apply: In all cases below, please include your Name / Address / Age / Phone Number / Email Address.

・Image data should be sent with a file size of 2MB or less per work.

・Hand-drawn works should be digitized by scanning or image capture. Digital works should be attached.

A. Submitted works must be unpublished works created by the applicant. B. Submitted works must not infringe on the rights of any third party (copyright, trademark, portrait rights, etc.). C. If a submitted work is deemed to potentially infringe on third-party rights, or if it is found to have been created using image generation AI or otherwise not in accordance with these guidelines, the selection may be revoked even after announcement. D. Copyright of submitted works belongs to the applicant, regardless of whether the work is selected. E. Selected artists grant permission to Takashimaya Co., Ltd. to use the selected works for interior decoration and for promotional activities and records of this project. F. Selected artists agree to allow Takashimaya Co., Ltd. to modify or adapt the works as necessary for their use in decoration. G. If a submitted work is selected, the artist agrees in writing not to exercise moral rights, etc. H. The name of the work and the artist's name will not be displayed when used for interior decoration.
