The "Taiwan Festival in Morioka 2026 - Tainan Lantern Festival -" will be held starting July 11, 2026, at Aeon Mall Morioka. We introduce the highlights that allow you to experience the charm of this event more deeply, including fantastic lantern displays that will color the venue and menu items using Tainan fruits.
"Taiwan Festival" is an event aiming to serve as a bridge for exchange between Japan and Taiwan, allowing visitors to experience Taiwan through night market food from various regions of Taiwan, with the theme "A 365-day Taiwanese Night Market in Japan." It began in 2016, prompted by the significant support received from Taiwan following the Great East Japan Earthquake, and this year marks its 10th anniversary. This is the first time it will be held in the Tohoku region.
In 2026, we are collaborating with Tainan City, the ancient capital of southern Taiwan. We will deliver the food, culture, and charm of Tainan throughout the year.
Tropical Drinks Featuring Tainan Fruits Debut
Special menu items using fruits from Tainan, known as one of Taiwan's leading fruit-producing regions, will be available. Mangoes and pineapples, grown in a warm climate, are characterized by their rich sweetness and refreshing tartness. The "Taiwan Mango Sour" and "Taiwan Pineapple Sour," which make the most of their appeal, have a clean taste and pair perfectly with Taiwanese cuisine.
Additionally, for those who do not consume alcohol, we also offer "Mango Juice" and "Pineapple Juice." You can enjoy the deliciousness of Tainan fruits regardless of age.
Tainan Lanterns to Illuminate the Venue
In cooperation with Tainan City, Taiwan, Tainan lanterns brought from the region will spectacularly decorate the venue. In Taiwan, lanterns are cherished as symbols of happiness and wishes, and a culture of lighting up cities and people's hopes is deeply rooted.
The lanterns, enveloped in Tainan's vibrant colors, will fantastically illuminate the venue.
Enjoy a space that feels like you are traveling in Taiwan.
