Taiwan Festival in KUMAMOTO 2026 - Tainan Lantern Festival - to be held!

In spring 2026, the 'Taiwan Festival in KUMAMOTO 2026 - Tainan Lantern Festival -' will be held at Hanabatake Square in the heart of Kumamoto.

The 'Taiwan Festival' is an event that aims to be a bridge for exchange between Taiwan and Japan, allowing visitors to experience Taiwan through night market gourmet from various regions of Taiwan, under the theme of '365 days of Taiwan night market in Japan.' This year marks its 10th anniversary since its first holding in 2016.

This year's Taiwan Festival collaborates with Tainan City, an ancient capital in southern Taiwan. Throughout the year, we will deliver the food, culture, and heartwarming charm of Tainan.

The venue will be adorned with colorful and enchanting lanterns, creating a lively spring atmosphere during the day and an extraordinary moment enveloped in gentle light at night. You can enjoy an experience as if you are traveling in Tainan while being in Kumamoto.

At the venue, in addition to popular exquisite Taiwanese gourmet such as 'Da Ji Pai' (fried chicken steak) and 'Xiaolongbao' (soup dumplings), Tainan-specific gourmet like 'Tainan Danzai noodles' and 'Tainan Danzai dry noodles' will appear. Local chefs will showcase their skills, reproducing authentic flavors and promoting the rich food culture of Tainan through Taiwanese gourmet.

At night, colorful and enchanting Tainan lanterns will illuminate the seating areas, creating a vibrant and extraordinary atmosphere typical of Taiwan. You can enjoy the night of Tainan, which shows a different expression from the daytime, with an exotic and nostalgic feel, all while in Japan.

Furthermore, Tainan is known as one of Taiwan's leading fruit producing regions. Fruits grown in a land blessed with a warm climate, long sunshine hours, and a balance of rain and sun are characterized by their strong sweetness and rich aroma.
