Taisho University to Introduce New "Reference Point Type" Common Test Entrance Exam for 2027 Admissions

Taisho University (President: Tomozumi Kamidachi, Location: Toshima-ku, Tokyo) will introduce a new entrance examination category, 'Phase 1 (Reference Point Type),' within its Common Test-based admission system starting from the 2027 academic year. This system utilizes the results of the Reiwa 9 (2027) Common Test for University Admissions for selection. If an applicant's score in the 3-subject or 4-subject model specified by each department meets or exceeds the reference point, they are guaranteed admission. Applications are accepted until two days before the Common Test, and candidates can apply to up to two departments that have set reference points. Furthermore, the 3-subject and 4-subject models within the same subject group can be applied for simultaneously, providing a chance to secure double acceptance. The application fee is a flat rate of 10,000 yen, covering up to two departments.

This system is introduced not only for competition among applicants but also to evaluate a 'certain level of academic achievement.' By showing a clear standard that 'one can pass by working hard to exceed the reference point,' the university aims to create an environment where students can take exams with peace of mind. For Common Test takers, securing a guaranteed pass early on leads to a reduction in financial burdens such as application and admission fees, as well as alleviating the psychological anxiety associated with the examination process.
