Tacticart Orchestra Announces 'Shin-Summer Orchestra Concert 2026: Opera Edition'

Tacticart Orchestra will present the 'Shin-Summer Orchestra Concert 2026: Opera Edition – Opera is This Exciting!' on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall. This special concert will focus on Mozart’s iconic operas, 'The Marriage of Figaro' and 'Don Giovanni,' delivering a program designed to make the charm of opera accessible, enjoyable, and authentic. The concert will be conducted by Daisuke Moki, former principal oboist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra and classical music supervisor for the manga and anime 'Nodame Cantabile.' Accomplished vocalists Shiori Shigeta and Kimiharu Sugaya will join Tacticart Orchestra to bring the world of opera to life with brilliance and emotion. A key highlight of this concert is the introduction of the 'First-Time Opera Guest Seat,' a groundbreaking initiative offering free admission (0 yen) under a 'pay-what-you-wish after the performance' model. This program aims to welcome those who have never experienced opera or classical music, encouraging them to attend without hesitation. [Tacticart Orchestra] Founded in October 2020. A dynamic, up-and-coming orchestra formed by a new generation of talented young musicians active both in Japan and abroad. The orchestra specializes in concerto performances where members take on soloist roles, and actively explores innovative programming, including chamber music and solo recital series. Served as Principal Oboist of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra from 1986, then as Principal Oboist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra for 30 years starting in 1990. Began conducting in 1996, gaining nationwide recognition through educational concerts explaining orchestral instruments and Beethoven’s symphonies. Served as classical music supervisor for Tomoko Ninomiya’s 'Nodame Cantabile' and has led the nationwide tour of 'Live Nodame Cantabile Concert,' which he conceived and conducts. Retired from NHK Symphony in March 2019 and now works full-time as a conductor, having led orchestras such as Sendai Philharmonic, Ensemble Kanazawa, Tokyo Philharmonic, Kyoto City Symphony, Hyogo PAC, and Kyushu Symphony Orchestra. Studied conducting under the late Hiroshi Iwaki, the late Yuzo Toyama, and Junichi Hirokami. [Shiori Shigeta] Graduated from the National University of Music, completed her master’s in vocal performance (opera course) at its graduate school. Completed the 64th Master Class at the Niigakukai Opera Training Institute, receiving both Excellence and Encouragement Awards upon graduation. Has performed as Donna Anna in 'Don Giovanni,' Despina in 'Così fan tutte,' and Lauretta in 'Gianni Schicchi.' Also acclaimed for her expressive singing in family-friendly operas such as 'Hansel and Gretel' at Kanagawa Kenmin Hall and 'Let’s Make an Opera! The Little Chimney Sweep' at New National Theatre Tokyo. Expanded her reach as a soloist in the 2022 Salad Music Festival’s 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' and as a vocalist in 'Disney on Classic 2023.' Member of Niigakukai. [Kimiharu Sugaya] Active primarily in German Lieder, sacred music, and oratorios. Graduated from the Vocal Music Department at Tokyo University of the Arts, receiving the Acanthus Music Award and Doseikai Award upon graduation. Completed graduate studies at Toho Gakuen School of Music and the Vocal Department of the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe in Germany. Has performed as a soloist in numerous concerts, including J.S. Bach’s 'St. Matthew' and 'St. John Passions,' 'Magnificat,' Handel’s 'Messiah,' Beethoven’s 'Ninth Symphony,' Mozart’s 'Requiem,' Haydn’s 'The Creation,' Brahms’ 'German Requiem,' and Verdi’s 'Requiem.' Also appeared in operas such as 'The Marriage of Figaro,' 'La Bohème,' 'Carmen,' 'Orpheus in the Underworld,' 'Madama Butterfly,' and 'Turandot.' Has served as a vocal coach for groups including Motoyawa Cool Chante, Barons male chorus, and Tsukumo no Kyu o Utau Kai. Appointed performer at Toho Gakuen School of Music.
