(1) Overview

Kyoto Tachibana University, in collaboration with ONE TO TEN, Inc. (Headquarters: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto; Representative Director CEO: Yoshiaki Sawabe), has created "My Mirai Compass," an experiential digital diagnostic content utilizing AI. By answering five questions on the screen, users can organize their interests and aptitudes, facilitating their encounter with learning and research areas suitable for them among the university's 18 departments. Instead of unilaterally presenting department names and field explanations, the design allows users to consider "their compatibility with learning" through an experiential process. The diagnostic results generate AI-powered visuals imagining their future selves studying in the recommended department, based on a photo taken in advance. A unique feature is the enjoyment of envisioning how their learning in a department will lead to their future appearance. It aims to serve as a reference for high school students considering higher education, helping them choose departments by connecting their interests with learning. This content was produced under the supervision of AI researcher Professor Hitoshi Matsubara. From his long-standing involvement in both research and social implementation in the field of artificial intelligence research, he has provided advice on AI utilization methods and expression.

(2) Background of Production

For high school students contemplating university admission, the options for faculties and departments are expanding year by year. Our university has also broadened new academic fields through repeated reorganization and reforms based on societal demands and changes of the times. However, many voices express sentiments such as "It's hard to distinguish between departments" and "It's difficult to choose a suitable department." My Mirai Compass was planned not for the university to unilaterally indicate "aptitude for learning," but rather as a hint for high school students themselves to intuitively and enjoyably organize their interests and aptitudes. Our university values an environment where students from humanities, sciences, and medical fields gather on one campus and learn across faculties and departments. From this perspective, we hope that examinees will see "learning other than their desired department = a distant existence" not as such, but as an "interesting world to know," thus broadening their horizons. Through a diagnostic format that can be enjoyed by participants, we aim to make departments and new academic fields feel familiar, and to provide hints for considering their career paths.

(3) Features of the Content

1. An experience of realizing "your compatibility with learning" through a diagnostic format

My Mirai Compass is a diagnostic content in which users answer all five questions presented by an on-screen character. The questions are designed using AI, based on the learning characteristics and required aptitudes of each department. By posing questions that elicit the user's behavioral tendencies and thought patterns, the response data is organized from multiple angles to understand their aptitudes. Through this experience, we hope to provide an opportunity for users to discover new possibilities hidden within themselves.

2. Recommendation design that expands learning possibilities

The answers are analyzed by AI, and departments highly relevant to the visitor's interests and aptitudes are recommended in 1st to 3rd place. Furthermore, reasons for recommending the top-ranked department are provided.

3. Generative AI production to visualize "your future self"

Based on the diagnostic results, AI generates visuals that imagine the user's appearance studying in the recommended department. By generating scenes that combine the characteristics of learning in each department with the user's current appearance, their future vision is visualized. We hope that users will enjoy perceiving how their learning in a department will lead to their future appearance, and that it will serve as an opportunity to consider their career path.
