[Kyoto Tachibana University] Graduate School of Engineering to establish Master's Program* / Doctoral Program* in Engineering in April 2027

Kyoto Tachibana University (Yamashina-ku, Kyoto City, President: Tomohiro Okada) will establish the Master's Program (Information Engineering Course / Architectural Design Course)* / Doctoral Program (Information Engineering Course)* in the Graduate School of Engineering, Department of Engineering, starting in April 2027.

In recent years, information and communication technology has continued to develop as a fundamental technology that supports the resolution of social issues, transcending the boundaries of software and information systems and integrating with diverse engineering fields such as architecture, urban planning, medicine, and design. At this university, we have embraced these changes and promoted educational research that allows students to systematically acquire advanced expertise and research capabilities in engineering fields, based on interdisciplinary learning cultivated through undergraduate education.

This graduate school will strengthen educational research that spans AI, robotics, networks, and software, with information and communication technology at its core, to cultivate highly specialized professionals who can solve social and industrial problems and create new value. Furthermore, while building on information science, we will strengthen collaboration with the architecture and urban planning fields, and develop educational research with an eye toward practical application in society, such as BIM (Building Information Modeling), spatial data analysis, and urban information analysis.

In addition to the development of such educational research, we emphasize the connection with undergraduate education, including the Department of Information Science and Engineering, and have established a system that allows motivated students to engage in advanced research from an early stage. Furthermore, we actively accept individuals with diverse experiences and backgrounds, including working adults, and are building an environment where they can learn while balancing work and research. This flexible educational system, based on these points, also responds to the growing needs for reskilling and recurrent education for working professionals.

The Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto Tachibana University aims to develop practical educational research in response to changes in the times and societal demands, and strives to cultivate human resources who contribute to the local community and industry.

*Provisional name. In April 2027, the name will be changed from the Department of Informatics, Graduate School of Informatics, to the Department of Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering. In April 2027, the Doctoral Program (provisional name) in the Department of Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, is scheduled to be established (under planning). Accordingly, the name and curriculum will be changed from the Master's Program in the Department of Informatics, Graduate School of Informatics, to the Master's Program in the Department of Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering. The plan is subject to change.
