New Zealand 'JAZZ Apple' 2026 Season Launch in Japan Starting Late May

T&G Global (Headquarters: Auckland, New Zealand) will begin sequential sales of its premium New Zealand 'JAZZ apple' brand at major supermarkets across Japan from late May 2026 (expected sales period through the end of September).

JAZZ apples are premium fruits harvested during New Zealand's autumn and winter seasons. Since the seasons in Japan and New Zealand are opposite, JAZZ apples are popular every year as a way to enjoy fresh, seasonal apples during the Japanese summer. Building on this demand, JAZZ apples recorded the highest import volume among New Zealand apples in Japan last year.

JAZZ apples feature a crisp texture and a refreshing balance of sweetness and tartness. They are ideal for summer, especially for children who need hydration and vitamin supplementation during hot days, outdoor play, club activities, or lessons. Small and easy to finish, they are kid-friendly in size and wax-free, allowing them to be eaten with the skin on, making them a safe and easy daily snack.

With their refreshing sweetness and moderate tartness, they are perfect for all family members to enjoy during breakfast, in between activities, after school, or as a refreshing break.

■ Strong Performance Last Season

Reflecting high demand for the JAZZ™ premium brand, producer returns in New Zealand grew significantly last season.

Average returns per Tray Carton Equivalent (TCE) for JAZZ apples increased by $4.24 compared to the previous season. Shane Kingston, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of T&G Global's Apples division, commented on the 2026 season:

'Throughout the season, we experienced ideal growing conditions with warm, sunny days and cool nights. This resulted in excellent coloration and high sugar content (Brix), producing fruits that are sweet with a crisp texture. This has been one of our finest harvests of premium brand apples in recent years.

Providing high value and returns to our growers remains our top priority. We are very pleased with the results achieved in 2025 and aim to carry that momentum into the 2026 season.'

Since exports to Japan began in 2011, the number of retail locations has expanded annually. In the 2026 season, sales are planned at approximately 2,500 to 3,000 supermarkets nationwide. *Online sales are also available at some locations.
