Sustainability Standard Partners Co., Ltd. (SSP), an independent verification body specializing in third-party assurance of sustainability information (Headquarters: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Toshinori Nishimura; hereinafter “SSP”), announces its registration as a Registered Verification Body for Phase 2 of the GX-ETS (Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme), effective June 15, 2026.

■ GX-ETS Phase 2 and the Role of “Registered Verification Bodies”

The GX-ETS (Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme) officially launched as a mandatory system in April 2026. Facilities with annual direct CO₂ emissions exceeding 100,000 tons are subject to the scheme and must calculate and report their “Emission Target Amounts” and “Actual Emission Amounts.”

For these calculations, it is mandatory to obtain third-party verification from a “Registered Verification Body” that has been pre-registered by the national government (the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry). Registered Verification Bodies independently verify the emission targets and actual emissions reported by covered entities, ensuring the overall credibility and integrity of the system.

■ Third-Party Assurance Provider for Corporate Sustainability and Non-Financial Disclosures

SSP specializes in third-party verification of corporate sustainability and non-financial disclosures and has extensive experience verifying GHG emissions and other sustainability data for numerous companies.

With this registration, SSP will leverage its accumulated expertise to offer new verification services for Emission Target Amounts and Actual Emission Amounts under Phase 2 of the GX-ETS.
