We are participating in April Dream, an initiative to share dreams on April 1st.
This press release is a dream from Surprise Mall Inc.

Surprise Mall Inc. (Headquarters: Fukuoka City, Representative Director: Daisuke Murabe) is pleased to announce that its emotional performance service "MemoReplay" will be globally distributed on Netflix, one of the world's largest streaming platforms.

This production is a series that depicts, in a documentary style, the process of a new form of entertainment – "actors surprisingly reenacting the bride and groom's lives" – being performed at weddings around the world, a unique Japanese cultural offering. It will be distributed to over 190 countries worldwide.

■ What is "MemoReplay"?

"MemoReplay" is a reenactment performance by child actors and adult actors during the climax of a wedding ceremony, such as the "bride's letter" or the "scene of gratitude to parents."
By having child actors and adult actors actually perform scenes from the bride and groom's childhood or memories with their families, it allows the entire venue to "experience" those memories, creating a completely new and emotional surprise performance that is gaining attention nationwide.

The performance visualizes the bride's upbringing, family memories, and the "thank you" feelings that could not be conveyed until now, through script and acting.
For example──
・A scene where a young girl appears as the "bride in her childhood" and her mother makes her a bento box.
・A scene reenacted as the "groom in his youth" of a boy playing catch with his father.
・Past scenes of adolescent misunderstandings or times when words of gratitude couldn't be easily spoken.
These are recreated not through video, but through "live acting," bringing tears to the eyes of parents and guests.

This performance is not just a surprise; it is a "time to feel family bonds" and a "moment to reflect on one's life," receiving high satisfaction from many brides and grooms.

■ Changing Weddings Worldwide with Japan's "Tear-Jerking Performance"

Through this project, we aim to deliver "MemoReplay" to "weddings around the world,"
and it will be produced by weaving in the cultures, family values, and forms of love from each country.
Will parents in various countries be moved to tears in the same way?
This is a challenge to see if the "MemoReplay" format, originating from Japan, can resonate globally.

■ Yuya Yagira and Naomi Watanabe Appointed as Navigators

Two internationally active individuals will serve as navigators for this series.

Actor Yuya Yagira, drawing on his own experience of getting married at 19,
will deeply engage with the theme of "acting out life" and also provide acting direction to the performers.

Meanwhile, Naomi Watanabe, active worldwide,
will bring out the charm of overseas cast and participants through her English communication skills and unique sensibility.

■ Regardless of Nationality, Parental Love for a Child Remains the Same

Even if the language is different, even if the culture is different,
the feelings of parents for their children do not change anywhere in the world.

Childhood memories.
The walk home holding hands.
The days of being scolded, the days of being protected, all were love.

MemoReplay reenacts that "taken-for-granted love that couldn't be put into words" right before your eyes.

In America, in India, in Japan—
At that moment, parents shed the same tears.

It is not because the acting moves them, but because they are overlaying it with their own lives.

What transcends borders is not technique or direction, but the single, unchanging sentiment:
"We are glad you were born."

■ Future Developments

This project is a challenge to redefine the norms of weddings worldwide.

First, we will establish MemoReplay production teams in major cities around the world, such as New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Milan, and Seoul,
and develop "life reenactment performances" tailored to the wedding cultures of each country.

In America, "dramatic performances emphasizing surprise,"
in Europe, "artistic stage-style MemoReplay,"
and in Asia, "story-driven performances deeply depicting family love,"
we will produce "tear-jerking weddings" unique to each region.

Furthermore, we will solicit "life episodes" from couples worldwide,
and selected stories will be reenacted in the Netflix program.
This will create a new value for weddings, where "one's own wedding is broadcast to the world."

Additionally, the international competition "Memory Play Wedding Award" will be established.
This event, which decides the "most tear-jerking wedding in the world," will bring together representative couples and performance teams from each country,
evolving into a new form of entertainment where stories of love and life compete.

And in the future—
We aim to spread the culture worldwide where "acting out one's life is standard at weddings."

Not just celebrating, but a "time to reflect on one's life with loved ones."

Weddings will become the most tear-jerking day of one's life.

We will bring that norm from Japan to the world.

■ This is Our "Dream"

This release is in support of "April Dream" on April 1st,
and conveys the future vision envisioned by Surprise Mall Inc.

While this is a concept not yet realized,
it is a project we sincerely wish to bring to fruition.

Message from Representative

Daisuke Murabe, Representative Director

The decline in weddings due to the pandemic, and the downsizing of weddings due to economic recession – in recent years, we have keenly felt the reality of Japanese people increasingly distancing themselves from weddings.

Yet, I know this: weddings are truly wonderful things. I can say this from the bottom of my heart, having witnessed firsthand the tears of thousands of couples and their families.

"MemoReplay" is a performance that reshapes the essential value of weddings – the emotion derived from "a place to express gratitude."
We will continue to create weddings filled with "thank yous" together with our couples.
