Suntory Beverage & Food Limited, in collaboration with Tokyu Corporation (hereinafter Tokyu), will begin 'bottle-to-bottle' horizontal recycling*1 from April 8th (Wednesday) at 'Granberry Park,' an outlet complex facility. This process collects used PET bottles and transforms them into new PET bottles.

*1 Recycling that uses used products as raw materials to create the same type of product.

● Background of this initiative Since its founding, the Suntory Group has upheld its purpose, "To contribute to the enrichment of life and culture for people around the world, inspired by the blessings of nature and man's desire for the finest," and has aimed to realize a sustainable society. For PET bottles, it has been pursuing various initiatives with the goal of "100% Sustainable."

Granberry Park aims to realize a sustainable society through awareness activities related to environmental protection and social contribution.

Since 2012, the Suntory Group, as the first in Japan's soft drink industry to introduce PET bottles made from 100% recycled materials*2, has been driving technological innovation, including the development of the world's first 'FtoP direct recycling technology' which reduces CO2 emissions compared to conventional methods*3, thereby commercializing and promoting 'bottle-to-bottle' horizontal recycling.

Furthermore, in response to the challenge that PET bottle sorting is not sufficiently advanced outside the home, we have focused on communication to encourage 'clean sorting even when out and about.' We have produced TV commercials and web videos starting from the scene of finishing a PET bottle drink, showing how to cleanly separate the cap and label even when outdoors, and conducted initiatives such as outreach classes at elementary and junior high schools and commercial facilities.
