## Report on the 'Construction Industry Work-Style Forum 2026'

Sokedachi Research Institute, operated by Sokedachi Co., Ltd., in partnership with Kyoto University, held the 'Construction Industry Work-Style Forum 2026' on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Toranomon Hills Forum. The event was a great success, with approximately 1,000 construction industry professionals in attendance.

Supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Japan Construction Training Center, and the Research Institute of Construction and Economy, the event featured various experts including government ministers, leaders of major general contractors, specialty construction companies, and academic representatives. The forum hosted lively discussions on critical themes facing the construction industry, including women's participation, talent development, business succession, retention of foreign talent, and the development of next-generation leaders.

## Background and Atmosphere

This forum has been held since 2024 to foster cooperation beyond the boundaries of government, industry, and academia for the sustainable development of the construction industry. In addition to lectures, the venue hosted sponsor exhibitions, and the simultaneous 'Sokedachi Real Matching' event facilitated active networking and business collaborations among attendees.

## Program Highlights

The stage program began with guest remarks, followed by a keynote speech titled 'Laying the Groundwork for an Attractive and Sustainable Construction Industry' by Mr. Jun Nakahara, Secretary General of the Japan Federation of Construction Contractors. The program included a research presentation by Professor Takashi Kaneta of Kyoto University, followed by panel discussions focusing on women's empowerment, human resource development, policy dialogue, young business successors, and the integration of foreign workers, sharing profound insights for the future of the industry.
