Brand Logo & Story

"FRANÇAIS"

Western Confectionery Francais

Francais began as a Western confectionery store in Shibuya shortly after the war. Supported by many, Francais's signature product, mille-feuille, has been loved by many, from children to adults, for a long time.

Starting with the classic mille-feuille, we are committed to the ingredients and manufacturing methods of all our sweets, pursuing deliciousness.

The layers of puff pastry, the texture of fruits, the aroma of nuts, etc.

We strive daily to create truly delicious sweets, one by one, with great care.

About the History of Francais

Francais, a Western confectionery, was founded in Shibuya in December 1957 as a Western confectionery store, driven by Jiro Takai's strong desire to popularize French Western confectionery culture in Japan. Its origin lies in the days spent with Seiji Togo, a Western painter who was an alumnus of Aoyama Gakuin and had ties to France.

At that time, they successively created new concept products such as "Brandy Cake" using brandy, which was a luxury item, and "Honey Citron" based on lemon, contributing to the rise of Japanese Western confectionery culture through French sweets.

After relocating its base to Yokohama in 1997, it invited Jean Mie, a MOF (Meilleur Ouvrier de France), and opened a street-level store in Motomachi, Yokohama. In addition to Western confectionery, it also opened French restaurants, striving to spread French gastronomy.
