To date, Study Pocket has provided functions for the safe and practical utilization of generative AI in educational settings, primarily through its education-focused generative AI service "Study Pocket." This includes AI for administrative support for teachers, learning support for students, and an AI English conversation service. Recent announcements highlight initiatives that go beyond simply offering AI functions, such as a simultaneous interpretation service for educational institutions using AI, a "Mimamori Prompt" function to support teachers' safe AI usage, "Friendly View" support for AI utilization tailored to developmental stages, and an analysis function that reflects teacher observations into AI. The company is actively designing the AI experience itself within educational environments.

This new CxO structure, reflecting these changes in the business phase, will clarify distinct areas of responsibility for business growth, AI strategy, customer value, and technological reliability.

Background of the Transition to the New Structure

Study Pocket, centered on its generative AI service for schools, "Study Pocket," has been working to enable the safe and practical use of generative AI in schools. This includes support for teachers' administrative and instructional tasks, learning support for students, AI English conversation learning support, collaboration with educational material publishers, and support for AI tools developed by teachers in the field. The service has been implemented in over 1,000 schools across more than 90 municipalities nationwide.

The educational application of generative AI is moving beyond the stage of simply providing AI functions to a phase where teachers, students, schools, and municipalities can confidently utilize AI within their respective contexts, leading to actual improvements in learning and work efficiency.

To achieve this, it is necessary to design not only product development but also the AI's response quality, safety, educational appropriateness, customer success in utilization, technological reliability for continued use in schools, and an organizational culture that fosters AI proficiency, all as an integrated whole.

This new CxO structure, in response to these changes in the business phase, will further accelerate the social implementation of educational AI by having the founder directly lead AI strategy, AI culture, and the customer's AI experience as CAIO.

Background of Establishing the CAIO Position and Founder's Appointment

Through the provision of educational AI products, Study Pocket has confronted the possibilities and challenges of generative AI utilization in schools.

AI does not inherently create value simply by being added as a function. AI used in educational settings requires clarity for learners and teachers, a sense of security, educational appropriateness, and an experience design that integrates smoothly into daily operations.

With the founder, Hiroyuki Tsuruta, taking on the role of CAIO, the educational philosophy, product vision, and understanding of the field cultivated since the company's inception will be connected to AI-era management, organization, and product development.

Hiroyuki Tsuruta

Comment from Representative Director, CAIO Hiroyuki Tsuruta

I feel that the phase of AI has changed.

I have set forth two responsibilities as CAIO.

The first is to ensure the success of the customer's AI experience. We will design the product, quality, ethics, and educational appropriateness holistically to ensure that AI technology is easy to understand, safe to use, and leads to customer value.

The second is to build our own AI strategy and culture. We aim to transform into an educational company befitting the AI era by establishing AI-first management.

We will challenge ourselves to design a new educational environment where humans and AI collaborate, and to shape the future of our own company.

Hikaru Satoda

Comment from Executive Officer, CPO Hikaru Satoda

As the first engineer involved in product development at the time of Study Pocket's founding, I have been involved in implementing education-focused AI services while gathering feedback from schools.

With the advancement of AI, product creation is becoming faster than ever. Therefore, I believe that discerning what should be created is becoming even more important.

As CPO, I will sincerely engage with the voices of educational sites and customers, and strive to realize our Mission of "maximizing human potential" through product development that starts with customer value.

Future Outlook

Under the new CxO structure, Study Pocket will further promote the use of generative AI in schools and provide valuable AI experiences for teachers, students, municipalities, and educational institutions. Internally, we will also advance AI-native organizational operations, building a management and development structure with high expertise and execution capabilities even with a small team. Study Pocket will continue to develop products that expand the possibilities of learning in the AI era and evolve alongside educational sites.
