StudyPocket Announces 'AI Interpreter,' a 60-Language Real-Time Two-Way Interpreter for Schools, Offering Free Trial Ahead of Commercialization

StudyPocket Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Directors: Ryo Yamaji / Hiroyuki Tsuruta; hereinafter "StudyPocket") has announced the "StudyPocket AI Interpreter," a real-time two-way interpretation feature supporting 60 languages, within its generative AI service for schools, "StudyPocket for TEACHER." Ahead of its commercialization within the current fiscal year, a trial version for school teachers will be available starting Monday, June 1, 2026.

By utilizing this feature, schools can support students with foreign roots or those who otherwise require Japanese language instruction, assist communication with their parents or guardians, and provide support for accepting foreign exchange students.

The trial period will be available until noon on Friday, July 31, 2026, and will be provided free of charge, with no usage limits and no additional costs to all existing StudyPocket teacher accounts. The trial can be used without any special configuration. Additionally, local governments, school corporations, and schools that have not yet implemented StudyPocket can consult regarding the issuance of trial accounts upon new inquiries.

This feature is the latest developed by the internal R&D team, "StudyPocket Educational AI Innovation Lab" (commonly known as "AI Lab"). Prior to official commercialization, the company will conduct a needs assessment regarding utilization scenarios in educational settings, necessary features, implementation scale, and pricing structure to advance preparations for formal deployment.

Development Background
According to a survey published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in FY Reiwa 5 (2023), the number of students requiring Japanese language instruction reached 69,123, a significant increase from 58,307 in FY Reiwa 3 (2021). In school settings, multilingual communication is required in daily situations such as not only speaking directly to students but also during parent-teacher meetings, behavioral guidance, career counseling, and interactions in the nurse's office or administration office.

On the other hand, it is not easy to constantly station sufficient interpreters or native language support staff in every school. To address these challenges, the "StudyPocket AI Interpreter" transcribes and interprets conversations in real-time on the devices teachers already use, supporting mutual understanding with students and parents.
