Wom-tech, a community for women in STEM, in collaboration with Asahi Kasei Corporation and Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL), will host its first corporate networking event for university students studying in STEM fields (*). The event, titled "Corporate Networking Event for STEM University Students," will be held around Tokyo Station on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

At this event, in addition to reporting the results of corporate visits conducted as a Proof of Concept (PoC) for "STEM GATE"—a program connecting female STEM university students and companies through "empathy"—a panel discussion and networking session featuring young employees from both companies will be held.

*STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It is gaining attention as a field that fosters the ability to discover and solve social issues, as well as create new value.

## Background of the Event

With internships being positioned as part of recruitment activities starting in fiscal 2025, opportunities for university students to gather information without worrying about being evaluated by companies are decreasing. Given this background, Wom-tech planned "STEM GATE," a program targeted at female STEM students before they begin job hunting, allowing them to casually think about their careers and companies. A PoC for this program was recently conducted.

This program provides students with an opportunity to share what they felt based on experiences such as corporate visits, and to deepen their understanding of work and careers through dialogue with working professionals, free from the pressure of evaluation.
