Stitch is a mischievous alien appearing in the Disney movie 'Lilo & Stitch'. Created by Dr. Jumba as 'Experiment 626', he possesses various abilities such as great strength and super intelligence.

The Steiff 'Disney Stitch' released last year sold out instantly upon reservation. This year, he appears again holding a duckling.

This 'Disney Stitch and Duckling' is 20cm tall, made of finest mohair, and has a jointed head that can be moved.

Inspired by 'The Ugly Duckling', Stitch learns the importance of family and trust. Based on the touching scene where he reads to the ducklings, Steiff expresses Stitch holding a small duck. A collector's item symbolizing friendship, security, and true connection.

Due to handmade nature, individual differences may cause slight variations from images.

History of Steiff

Steiff and its founder Margarete Steiff.

'When it comes to teddy bears, Steiff' – this world-famous plush brand was founded by a woman named Margarete Steiff (1847–1909), born in the small town of Giengen, southern Germany. At age one, she contracted polio, leaving her right hand and both legs disabled, spending her life in a wheelchair.

Margarete's parents sent her to school and taught her sewing so she could be independent despite her disability. In her 20s, she founded the 'Felt Mail Order Company', the predecessor of Steiff, selling women's and children's clothing. In December 1880, she thought of giving her nieces and nephews a toy elephant as a Christmas present. Made of felt and filled with the finest wool, eight soft elephant toys were created. Given to children as toys and to adult women as pincushions, they were well received. This marked the birth of the world's first plush toy. The year 1880 is considered the founding year of Steiff.

Margarete's nephew Richard, who had been helping with the business since 1897, proposed making a 'realistic bear plush'. This became the world's first teddy bear, '55PB', with movable head and limbs, made of the finest materials. '55PB' caught the eye of an American buyer at a trade fair, and after improvements, mass production began. Meanwhile, in America, along with President Theodore Roosevelt's nickname 'Teddy', bear plush toys grew in popularity, but counterfeits also appeared. The idea of attaching a button to the left ear to authenticate Steiff products was born. This became the world's oldest trademark, 'Button in Ear', still used today as a mark of the highest quality.
