station Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Co-representatives: Yusuke Watanabe, Takahiro Miyake) announces that a co-creation team born from the "Town Planning Guild" community, initiated by STATION Ai, has been selected as the representative company for the co-creation program "IGNAS," promoted by IG Arena (operated by Aichi International Arena Co., Ltd.), Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., and NTT Docomo, Inc.
In this project, with the area around IG Arena as the demonstration field, we will begin verification towards "realizing a circular arena city through human flow analysis and regional co-creation hubs, fostering industry-academia-community collaboration."
**Background of Program Participation**
In the recent real estate industry, against a backdrop of social factors such as population decline, lifestyle changes, and rising construction costs, decision-making has prioritized investment recovery. As a result, there has been a trend towards what is called "Kintaro-ame-ization" (standardization), where facilities are composed of similar buildings and tenants.
Among these facilities, many see visitor numbers gradually decline after peaking at opening, bustling during events but remaining sparsely populated on weekdays. Without sufficient ties to the community, the emergence of competing facilities nearby can quickly diminish their attractiveness and sustainability, sometimes resulting in "negative assets" that undermine the vitality of the entire region.
These structural challenges are common to high-attraction facilities such as sports arenas and tourist destinations. A key theme is how to connect the temporary crowd and economic benefits from events and performances to daily regional use and continuous economic activity.
To solve this challenge, it is necessary to shift from facility operation solely by the operating entity to a mechanism where activities self-propel, involving diverse local stakeholders.
Values continue to be updated even after the building's completion, local stakeholders are nurtured, and the facility and town grow together. We aim to realize such a state.
We decided to participate in IGNAS because we felt that this program presented a similar understanding of these challenges, aligning with our own initiatives.
**Project Overview**
This project aims to create points of contact between visitors to IG Arena and the surrounding region, establishing a mechanism that connects the arena and the community.
Specifically, the following initiatives will be implemented integrally:
* Survey and database creation of players active in the region
* Formation of a regional co-creation community
* Installation of variable pop-up bases utilizing surplus materials, where visitors can encounter local information
* Establishment of an operational structure in collaboration with nearby universities
* Verification of revisitation and circulation through acquisition and analysis of human flow data
Through these initiatives, this project aims to create the following three cycles:
* **① Cycle of increasing local exhibitors:** As visitors connect with exhibitors at pop-up bases, more people become involved as exhibitors themselves, expanding content and relational population.
* **② Cycle of increasing visitors:** Visitors learn about the charm of the region and visit surrounding areas even on non-event days, and this experience leads to attachment to the region and the arena, resulting in continuous visits.
* **③ Cycle of increasing supporters:** Students participate in the operation of pop-up bases and engage with the community, fostering talent with affection for the region, which will contribute back to the region in the future.
By activating these cycles simultaneously, we aim to build a state where the value of the arena and the region is continuously updated.
**Co-creation Team Structure**
This project will be promoted by a co-creation team centered on members participating in the STATION Ai "Town Planning and Real Estate Utilization Guild."
station Inc., as the representative company, will oversee the entire project, construct and design the co-creation framework, and survey and engage local players. In this co-creation team, we have established a system capable of integrally executing pop-up setup, operation, human flow survey, and analysis.
The roles of each company are as follows:
* **station Inc.:** Overall supervision, inter-business collaboration / Local player survey / Construction of regional co-creation framework
* **ZAI Inc.:** Environmentally friendly space setup utilizing surplus materials, easily switchable in appearance to match IG Arena content
* **MeeeetUp Inc.:** Measurement of human flow data using facial recognition system
* **General Incorporated Association Faucet Nagoya:** Regional collaboration and data analysis
* **Aichi Gakuin University, Faculty of Business Administration, Professor Kyoto Nuruki Seminar:** Regional collaboration / Pop-up planning support / On-site operation and public relations support
**Future Schedule**
The final review meeting will be held on April 28, 2026, after which demonstration experiments and co-creation policies are planned to be decided.
A demo day is also scheduled for this summer.
