Danish sportswear brand hummel has announced the new match kits for Zweigen Kanazawa, which the team will wear during the 2026/27 Meiji Yasuda J3 League season. Inspired by 'Kaga Temari,' a traditional embroidered ball crafted in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, the design reflects local heritage. The first release is limited to 700 units. Orders placed by July 5 will arrive before the league season begins.

Growing Together with the Club

In 2021, hummel's first year with the club, the kit design featured the club's symbolic logo. Since 2022, hummel has sequentially expressed the club's five core values—'Connecting,' 'Enjoying,' 'Dreaming,' 'Growing,' and 'Creating'—that embody its philosophy, 'Make Challenge a Tradition of This City.' Following previous seasons' themes of 'Connecting,' 'Creating,' 'Dreaming,' and 'Enjoying,' the 2026/27 season focuses on 'Growing,' marking the culmination of the club's value-based kit series.

The club's growth stems from mutual influence among supporters, partners, and the hometown community. This kit symbolizes Zweigen Kanazawa's commitment to growing alongside the city and its people. Despite differing roles, the shared determination to support one another and move forward is engraved in the heart as the cycle of 'Growing Together.'

Kaga Temari as the Design Motif

The design draws inspiration from 'Kaga Temari,' a traditional craft passed down in Ishikawa Prefecture. Loved by the people of Kanazawa since the Edo period, this ornamental ball is cherished as a lucky charm symbolizing wishes for happiness. The vibrant floral and geometric patterns are created by intricately wrapping colored threads, stitch by stitch—mirroring how the collective efforts of each individual supporting Zweigen Kanazawa come together to drive the club toward greater goals.

In Kanazawa, it is customary to give a temari to a daughter departing on a journey as a charm against evil. This kit likewise carries the wish to protect the club, community, and fans from adversity. Additionally, Kaga Temari traditionally contains a small bell at its center, producing a soft, elegant sound. Echoing this unique 'sound,' the design also embodies the vision of players' passion resonating through the stadium, giving rise to cheers from the stands.

On the lower back neckline, the design features 'Hoshigake' (star stitching), a fundamental technique in temari crafting. Hoshigake involves wrapping a single thread in a continuous, unbroken line, resembling people holding hands. This element symbolizes unity among the club, community, and fans striving together for victory, now carried on the players' backs.

Second Kit Design Features Zweigen's 'Z'

For the 2026/27 season, the second kit breaks from tradition—not merely a color variant of the first kit, but a completely new design. The chest pattern evokes dynamic movement, inspired by the 'Z' in Zweigen Kanazawa's name. It also subtly depicts figures with arms linked, expressing the shared hope and aspiration to 'build a new Kanazawa and Ishikawa together.' The 'Kaga Temari' motif from the first kit is also incorporated into the chest design of the second kit.

About hummel

Danish sportswear brand hummel was founded in 1923, pioneering the world's first football boot with studs. At a time when players wore flat-soled leather shoes, hummel's innovation of adding studs dramatically improved grip, enabling new styles of play. The brand name and logo were inspired by the bumblebee (hummel in German), a creature once thought too heavy to fly but which, through effort, defied theory and took flight. With a century of history, hummel now advances under the vision 'CHANGE THE WORLD THROUGH SPORT,' continuously pursuing bold new challenges.
