[Key Lecture Contents]
<1> Towards Promoting the Introduction of SAF
Yasushi Yamashita [1:00 PM - 1:50 PM]
Decarbonization efforts in the aviation sector are an urgent issue, not only for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 but also from the perspective of maintaining and strengthening international competitiveness and aviation networks.
Options for decarbonizing aviation are limited, and there are high expectations for SAF, which has a high CO2 reduction effect. This session will introduce recent initiatives to promote the introduction of SAF.
1. Importance of SAF in Aviation Decarbonization
2. Initiatives to Promote SAF Introduction
3. Q&A / Business Card Exchange
<2> Japan Airlines' Challenge Towards Net Zero CO2 Emissions by 2050
Kazuo Hiroya [2:00 PM - 2:50 PM]
The aviation industry is a "Hard-to-Abate" sector where emission reductions are difficult, but it is also an indispensable infrastructure that supports Japanese industry and society. In addition to policy support, we, as a private company, are working with society to tackle decarbonization and achieve sustainable operations.
Today, we will introduce our five decarbonization initiatives (introduction of fuel-efficient aircraft, operational improvements, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), carbon credits, and new removal technologies) and consider collaboration with other industries.
1. Introduction to our five initiatives for CO2 emission reduction
2. Efforts to reduce fuel consumption (introduction of fuel-efficient aircraft, operational improvements)
3. Efforts for fuel transition (Sustainable Aviation Fuel SAF)
4. Efforts for reduction outside the value chain (carbon credits, new removal technologies)
5. Initiatives to deepen collaboration with society
6. Q&A / Business Card Exchange
