[Key Lecture Contents]

The introduction of grid-connected battery energy storage systems (BESS) is accelerating, supported by the development of electricity trading markets and various subsidy programs. Overseas markets have taken the lead in introducing such large-scale battery systems, and the challenges and knowledge gained are reflected in the latest international standards (IEC standards). In Japan, with the spread of battery systems, domestic industrial standards (JIS standards) and various guidelines are being established and issued one after another.

This seminar aims to update essential knowledge related to improving equipment operational efficiency and ensuring safety from the introduction to operation of battery systems, through explanations of four of the latest standards and guidelines that the lecturer has been directly involved with.

1. Introduction

2. IEC 62933-5-2 Ed2 [2025]

3. JIS C 4442 [2025]

4. NITE Public Procurement and Safety Guidelines for Battery Systems for Critical Infrastructure [2026]

5. BESST Battery Guidelines [2026]

6. Conclusion

7. Q&A / Business Card Exchange
