In April 2026, Toyota transitioned to a new management structure. The new president, Mr. Kondo, supported management from a financial standpoint as Vice President during the Akio Toyoda era, and later promoted the development of Woven City and Arene as the CFO of Woven by Toyota. More recently, he has led capital restructuring, such as the privatization of Toyota Industries Corporation, and has been responsible for the group's capital strategy. Under the new president with a finance background, Toyota is shifting to a phase of reaping the rewards of its growth investments. Optimization of capital allocation and faster decision-making are expected.
This lecture will provide an outlook on initiatives aimed at building a management system 'resilient to change' amidst growing uncertainty, covering not only group capital redesign and structural transformation but also five key perspectives: 'SDV,' 'Woven City,' 'Electrification,' 'Product Strategy,' and 'Production Technology.'
Introduction: Under the new president responsible for capital redesign, accelerating the transformation into a mobility company through 'Cars x Software x Cities'
1. SDV: Strengthening investment as a key management issue, promoting the shift to a software-centric mobility company.
2. Woven City: Strengthening investment while questioning business viability, expected to also play a role in selecting new businesses.
3. Electrification Strategy: Shifting the axis from technological competition to business competition, refining the multi-pathway approach.
4. Product Strategy: While maintaining a premium shift, redesigning the entry-level strategy is being questioned.
5. Production Technology: Promoting 'human-centric' factory creation for adaptable future factories.
6. Q&A / Business Card Exchange
