[SRS Holdings Event Report] "Umai Sushikan," the Sushi Restaurant That Plants Trees, Participated in the "14th Minamisoma City Memorial Reconstruction Citizen Tree Planting Festival"

SRS Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, President and Representative Director: Masahiko Shigeshige, hereinafter referred to as SRS Group) is working to solve social issues and create value towards the realization of a sustainable society. Recently, employees of Amino Co., Ltd., which operates "Umai Sushikan" within the SRS Group, participated in the "14th Minamisoma City Memorial Reconstruction Citizen Tree Planting Festival."

The "Minamisoma City Memorial Reconstruction Citizen Tree Planting Festival" is held to commemorate those who died in the Great East Japan Earthquake, to create a place to pass down the experiences and lessons of the earthquake to future generations without forgetting them, and to aim for the realization of "coastal forestation to protect lives" that will buffer tsunamis. The 14th festival was held on Sunday, June 7th, with approximately 1,200 participants and 12,000 trees planted.

"Umai Sushikan" has been engaged in tree planting activities since 2014 as a "sushi restaurant that plants trees," and 22 employees, including new hires, participated in this tree planting festival. Fortunately, it did not rain as feared on the day, and the tree planting activities were carried out successfully. The new employees were able to learn the importance of interacting with local residents and the importance of nurturing a prosperous community through tree planting.

After the tree planting activities in Minamisoma City, the new employees visited the "Sen-nen Kibou no Oka" (Thousand Hopes Hill) in Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, where their seniors had conducted tree planting activities.

"Sen-nen Kibou no Oka" is an artificial hill created using debris (recycled materials) generated by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Six parks and walking paths are developed along approximately 10 km of the Iwanuma City coastline, and it is used as a memorial park to convey the memories and lessons of the earthquake both domestically and internationally.

Amino Co., Ltd. has participated in the "Sen-nen Kibou no Oka Tree Planting Festival," where trees are planted along the walking paths, since 2014. Tree planting concluded in 2022, and since then, the company has participated in tree care and replanting activities for the planted saplings.

The "green embankment" created by the growth of the planted trees serves to reduce the force of tsunamis and to prevent them from flowing offshore during the receding tide.

The new employees observed the growth of the trees planted so far into a "green embankment" and reflected on the future where the greenery will continue to spread.
