■ What is Sunpu no Kobo Takumi-shuku?
Sunpu Takumi-shuku, a traditional craft experience facility in Shizuoka City, was renewed after 22 years in 2021 as "Sunpu no Kobo Takumi-shuku" under the operation of Sozosya Co., Ltd., an architectural design company, with the concept of "a place connecting history and the future." We invite leading artisans to each workshop specializing in Suruga bamboo basketry, pottery, indigo dyeing, tea dyeing, woodcraft joinery, and lacquerware, aiming to provide invaluable craft experiences and to nurture prospective successors for craftspeople. Additionally, we opened a shop within Takumi-shuku that inherited the taste of a long-loved local wagashi (Japanese sweets) store and a cafe using honey from a local beekeeper. Furthermore, we started accommodation businesses by renovating old folk houses in the area, such as "Kogei no Yado Waraku," which features Shizuoka crafts in its guest rooms, and "1HOTEL (One Hotel)," where guests can stay and experience crafts with their dogs. By collaborating and cooperating with the surrounding community, we also fulfill the role of a hub for preserving local culture.

Currently, the area centered around Sunpu no Kobo Takumi-shuku is named 'TAKUMISHUKU', and we are moving forward to ensure that handicrafts and those who convey handicrafts remain for 100 years into the future.
