Soseikai General Hospital (Location: Fushimi-ku, Kyoto City, Director: Nagaaki Tsuda) has introduced the latest digital intraoral scanner "TRIOS 5" and the high-performance milling machine (a machine for fabricating teeth) "CEREC Primemill" to provide patients with more comfortable and precise dental treatment.
By combining these two state-of-the-art devices, we achieve a "digital chairside solution" that eliminates the need for traditional putty-like material impressions and allows for speedy in-office fabrication of high-precision fillings and crowns.
Background of Introduction: Reducing Patient Physical Burden with Latest Technology
In dental treatment, taking impressions using putty-like materials is one of the procedures patients dislike, often accompanied by a gag reflex.
By introducing the latest digital equipment, our hospital aims to significantly reduce this physical burden and provide treatment with higher precision than conventional methods.
Features of Introduced Equipment
Intraoral Scanner "TRIOS 5" (Manufactured by 3Shape)
Less Uncomfortable Impressions: Precise 3D data is acquired simply by scanning the inside of the mouth with a small camera.
No worries about discomfort or mess from traditional impression materials. High Precision and Speed: Captures 2,400 images per second, enabling the creation of precise prosthetics (fillings and crowns).
Thorough Infection Control: Employs disposable sleeves and sterilizable tips for rigorous hygiene management.
Dental Milling Machine "CEREC Primemill" (Manufactured by Dentsply Sirona)
Extremely High Aesthetics and Fit: Uses a 0.6mm ultra-fine bur to reproduce fine grooves like natural teeth and highly accurate fits.
Treatment Completion as Early as the Same Day: Since design and fabrication are completed in-house, the number of visits can be reduced, with treatment potentially completed in as little as one visit (one-visit treatment).
*However, one-visit treatment will be considered private practice and will be by "reservation only." Additionally, it may not be applicable depending on the case.
Benefits for Patients
Significantly reduced burden during impressions (gagging, mess, time spent with mouth open).
Precise treatment with high fit, reducing the risk of secondary caries (recurrence of cavities).
Comment from Dental Director Yamamoto
"At our hospital, we aim to provide treatment that minimizes the physical and mental burden on our patients, so that everyone in the community can visit us with peace of mind at any time. With the introduction of the latest digital equipment (TRIOS 5 and CEREC Primemill), we have been able to significantly reduce the discomfort of 'taking mouth impressions,' which many patients dislike. We will continue to listen to our patients' voices and provide gentler, more precise dental care to the community."
As a central hospital in the region, we will continue to actively utilize the latest digital technology to provide dental care that is "safe, secure, and comfortable" and tailored to our patients.
