Our company endorses April Dream, which aims to make April 1st a day for announcing dreams. This press release is the dream of "soramusubi".
In Japan, approximately 16,000 babies are born each year without uttering a cry. However, the grief care system to support these families is still largely undeveloped in society.
The couple who operate soramusubi also experienced a stillbirth in 2020. When they lost their child, they struggled to find comfort, necessary information, or reliable support.
It is from this firsthand experience that the desire to deliver "what is truly needed" to families who have gone through the same experience became the beginning of soramusubi.

## ▼ Background of the Initiative
In Japan, approximately 16,000 stillbirths and 200,000 miscarriages occur annually, and many families face profound sorrow.
However, this reality is rarely known to society, and affected families live with "invisible grief."
While the joyful cries of healthy babies can be heard from the adjacent delivery room, some families endure labor to welcome a birth without a cry.
Obstetrics is a place where happiness and sorrow coexist; healthy babies are discharged through the front entrance, while families holding their deceased babies often leave through the back entrance.
There, despite being the same act of birth, exist realities as different as light and shadow.
Previously, it was common practice to simply cover very small babies with gauze, as commercially available baby clothes were too large.
In such circumstances, by dressing babies in perfectly fitting clothes, we aim to support families in making the limited time they spend together a gentle and memorable experience.

## ■ Comment from the Representative, Azusa Tanaka, Soramusubi
I myself am a person who has lost a baby. When I think that there are families somewhere today experiencing the same loneliness and the same unbearable pain of having nowhere to turn, I feel that this is an activity that must be continued.
The steady donation of baby clothes has, before I knew it, exceeded 900 garments annually. The simple phrase, "We were able to send our baby off beautifully dressed," is my greatest support. However, I also feel that the reality is that we have not yet sufficiently reached all families who need it.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, approximately 15% of pregnancies result in miscarriage, and 1 in 50 people experience a stillbirth. A significant number of families are, at this very moment, alone in their sorrow.
You don't have to overcome the farewell to your child. Soramusubi's dream is to create a society where people feel they can slowly move forward together with their babies in the sky. To achieve this, we will continue to build upon our efforts, one step at a time.
Mothers, fathers, and healthcare professionals who wish to receive donations are welcome to contact soramusubi.
